Product Description

Fly Fishing San Juan Worm flies

San Juan Worms were first tied for the San Juan River in New Mexico, one of the premier tailwater trout fisheries in the world. Traveling anglers soon discovered that the San Juan Worm is a deadly fly for use anywhere that trout swim.

  • The Fly Fishing Place version features premium beads and body materials that make for unique action and improved hookups.
  • Try dead drifting San Juan worms down through slots with your rod tip held high with very little or no slack line.
  • A useful fly under strike indicators or a foam body grasshopper pattern, and can also be used in the Czech style of nymphing.

These worms are quite small, but realistic looking, I think a scale device, like a coin would help. Despite their small size I think they will be very successful, can't wait to try them!

Just received this 12 pack, and like a few other reviewers, several of the hooks have smashed or missing barbs (4 out the twelve). Otherwise they look like good worms. There are some barbless fishing waters here so I'll still get use out of them, but brand new flies shouldn't come like this.

Never tried any thing like this before and had a great time catching trout with them. I didn't think these would work, but I was in for a surprise. They worked great. Try them, you won't be disappointed.

Worked great on the rivers in Utah! Caught monster browns below Echo reservoir. Great imitation of worms near banks at high flows. With the high snow pack and fast water these worms were exactly what was coming off the banks and into fish mouths. The single and double bead weighted worms were perfect to get down into the water column using the Provo bounce rig and indicator. This worm was on the bottom of 3 flies (sowbug, leech, and worm) with 4 split shot due to the high water flows (over 1000cfs).

Excellent! Couldn't be happier.. ordered these for our annual Trout "tournament" down at Lake Taneycomo MO .. threw one of these little San Juans out and in about 30 seconds I had a bite.. started reeling it in and it wasn't fighting much.. figured it was no big deal.. until it got about 15ft away and my drag started whizzing as it powered away from the boat.. long story short.. I landed it .. 19.5" Rainbow Trout, nicest one Ive caugt here in 2 years!
