About this item

  • ♻️ Stop throwing away coffee pods. Start recycling them. ♻️
  • The Cup Hero is an easy-to-use kitchen tool to help you fully recycle coffee pods instead of just throwing them away.
  • Drive. Rotate. Separate. The Cup Hero completely separates the plastic cup, aluminum lid, and coffee filter so that everything can be sorted and recycled or composted.
  • Billions of single-use coffee pods are thrown away each year. Do you want to be part of the solution?
  • Important Note For First-Time Cup Hero Users - Practice makes perfect. When using the Cup Hero for the first time, some people find it harder to use than they expect. It does require a little “umph” and a few tries to get the hang of it. While you rotate the Cup Hero back and forth inside the pod, it is important to maintain a strong grip around the top of the coffee pod, firmly pressing the coffee filter into direct contact with the Cup Hero so it can cleanly scrape the filter off the pod.

Cup Hero

The Problem

The Problem

Disposable coffee pods are a major source of single-use plastic items entering landfills. 365 coffee pods contain about 3 pounds of plastic.

Have you ever tried to separate the components of a disposable coffee pod?

Hint - it's much harder and messier to do than you might imagine.

The Cup Hero is an easy-to-use kitchen tool that helps you separate all of a coffee pod's components (plastic, foil, and food waste) so that they can be sorted into the appropriate waste and recovery streams.

A Better Option

Recycling capabilities vary by location and those interested in recycling coffee pod components should contact their local municipality to understand any limitations that may exist as coffee pods are not recycled in many communities.

This product sounds better than it really is. The saw tooth top edge is very dull and takes some effort to punch through the top. The ring of bumps that is supposed to remove the filter material requires a lot of pressure and hard twisting to work. Uually takes multiple attempts. All the while the cup itself wants to collapse from the effort needed to make this thing work. Don't waste your money.

this works great I use the coffee for my composting and it is soooo much better than poking my finger in the cup and digging--- wish it was for sale by the pods never knew about such a device

The reason I bought this is because the effort to deal with recycling pods was too high. While this product opens the top, it doesn’t cut out the cloth that holds the grounds. It ends up being a mess trying to get that out. Coffee grounds everywhere. I was so hopeful that but unfortunately it didn’t make the job easy enough.

I watched the video carefully and used the device on two different brands of pods. Make that, I attempted to do exactly as shown.I tried it a over a dozen times and even watched the video again. The top comes off with no problem. The paper liner would NOT come out. I jammed the device fully in up to the raised area and twisted, and twisted, and twisted ... No luck.I'd saved the pods in an open container for two weeks, so they had time to dry out, but nothing worked.Really wish it had.

This product does not do what it purports to do. It does not have any sort of blade to remove the top from the k-cup once it is in place. Product was returned.

This product just doesn't work. Period. Yes, it is easy to use, sturdy and easy to clean but it doesn't work. I practiced and practiced, and it still did not work. It will only separate the thin cover from the plastic pod. It will never separate the paper filter from the pod. I tried and tried but it just doesn't work. For this to work the teeth would have to be sharp and they are not. I wish I had never bought this terrible product. Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

Product is plastic not aluminum. It might actually work if this was engineered aluminum with blades to remove the filter as well. Don't waste your money on overpriced plastic that probably cost pennies to make. I might even so do far to say this is a bit of a scam. The product should be pulled from Amazon.

I tried using this and still use it. The only thing it has been good for is removing the foil on the top. i am left with ripping out the filter. I gave it 3 stars for effort. Its not quite there. im going back to using the Reusable K Cups Coffee Filter with Star Bucks Morning Joe. These kcups are too messy to deal with. i will recycle what i have left.

It works much better than a knife, which I was using before. Dry out the pods and the filter comes out easier. It’s work but much better than throwing the pods away.
