Great pick up for the price, can’t go wrong. Sound quality is very good, good volume and sticks well to the guitar.

If you are seeking a pick-up for an acoustic guitar for performing with a PA system, because you don't have a mic to use at the guitar sound hole or just like the convenience of using a pick-up, this is a great value option. If having a refined and subtle guitar sound matters most then pay more for a professional pick-up. This cheap little device gives plenty of volume, with an emphasis on the bass tones, and does well if you also like to play with a percussive sound or like to tap the guitar body while playing to give a drum effect. Attaching and removing the pick-up is easy but removal requires heating the device (and the guitar around it) using a hair dryer or something similar in order to loosen the adhesive on the fixing strip.

I actually bought this for my Uku and my Godin non-electric guitar. I tried in with the Uku and it functions very well. Feels like good quality and sturdiness. Sound is impressive.

I just realized today that I have had this little guy for 3 years now.I haven't used it a lot. I bought it for my ukulele and at present I only use in one song. But it's been successfully used live a few times and it's just as easy to plug it into my system, whether in my home studio or on stage, as it is to plug in my acoustic guitars.Acoustic pickups are tricky things to get right. I've had a couple of others over the years and I still want to try something else I just saw. But I have no complaints with how it works out for my uke. Good tone and dynamic range for that somewhat less demanding instrument. And you can't beat the price.I'm going to plug it up again before I actually buy another. I might not. It's really quite good. Also, I'm still on the original adhesive pad and it hasn't harmed my finish. But I take proper care of my things, too.

Does the job. I purchased this for use with an Irish tenor banjo, which is difficult to mike and not easy to add an aftermarket pickup to either. The Sunyin is very reasonably priced and easy to use. The high level output avoids the need for a dedicated pre-amp, though one can be used if desired. There are banjo pickups that give better balance and sound quality, but they are priced three to six times more than this simple device. Fine for student or occasional performer, but probably not professional grade if you play regularly in public.

I am actually surprised at the quality for being under $20.The good: It works as it is supposed to. It's compact. It's easy to use. It's under $20. One cool thing is that it comes with two cables. One that you can connect to the post for the guitar strap, and then run out to your amp/mixer via a 1/4" cable; and one cable that is a 3.5mm and 1/4" that you can plug straight into the pickup and run into your amp/mixer. The 3.5mm cable is really small so I think the 1/4" is the better option. But it's cool to have both options, if you don't feel like having the other cable strapped to your guitar. The bad: Really the only thing I don't like is that if you touch the cable the sound comes through the amp. But, that's to be expected with the design. The cable is a bit long and so easy to bump. But it comes with two clamps to hold it in place.I don't leave many reviews but I am VERY pleased with this. I am going to use it for a couple gigs. Pretty cool and simple design. I'm happy with it.

Want to start by saying this product definitely works. It’s a great price and it’s dedinitely very nifty. The mic sticks very well to my acoustic and then peels off without leaving a mark. The thing is that it greatly changes the dynamics of your acoustic sound. You can play with all sorts of positions and the output of the mic but it’s still just a little dull. This would be great for jamming but not exactly ideal for something professional.

I love this little pickup! It works wonderfully on most any acoustic instrument I attach it to. Guitar (steel and nylon strings) also amplifies Mandolin , vilom, Cello, Ukulele etc. (basically any hollow bodied, wooden, string I. Etc. This pickup does it. The price is far too little when compared to name brands that in my opinion don't touch the sound qulitie, feature set, and ease of use. I use it primarily with my uke, it soundd great! Oh and a built in volume control, and you attach the pickup in the right spot... You can have the volume control on an easy to control position.

It works fine for my classical guitar as long as I don't turn the volumn way up. It's a cheaper way to hook up the with the speakers for practice. I don't expect the excellent sound from this device. It works for the price.

When I picked this up in Amazon, I thought it wouldn't work at all because most cheap things don't. I put it on to my viola and plugged it in to my sound system with an adapter. It didn't work. I was puzzled because of this and thought the worst but then I tried it with a guitar amp and bass amp and it worked perfectly. It interpreted the sound very well into the amps. I would recommend this option as a cheap and very good way to amplify sound. I would not say that it compares to a bridge pickup made for classical instruments but it works well for just getting a decent sound out into an amp. I do like how it came with multiple extra pads for other instruments or for whenever they need replacing on a single instrument. This, I would recommend.

Pickup *can* create great sound.I rebuilt the main adapter cable. It looks terrible but it works, now.The adhesive pads provided *SEVERELY* impair the quality. I'm not a snob, but it sounded muddy like my guitar had a head cold...a head cold that somehow caused feedback at any gain or volume level.I ended up using a thin coat of hot glue to attach the pickup to the body of my guitar and the sound quality is now better than any of the prior pickups I've used.Basically, if i wasn't a confident tinkerer, I'd be mad as h*ll with this product as delivered. In the end, the price was still decent for the 'parts' delivered. But, a shrewed shopper with a care for music would be careful not to trust this item as a reliable finished product.Hope this helps someone.

Works well although settings need tweaking as the mike is very sensitive. Unit will pickup environmentals easily at higher volume settings on the unit.Of course, will also pickup amp causing a feedback loop so this is better used with headphones in a quiet space when recording and connected to amp or computer. Position on the guitar (an acoustic folk guitar in this case) does matter - slim line so won't interfere in most positions. Can probably be mounted inside the guitar but the pigtail cable may not be long enough to clear the body of the guitar. The unit has a small pigtail cable adapter for a 1/4" jack that has a tie for the shoulder strap so the main cable doesn't pull on the unit when playing.Connected this to a Behringer Uphoria 204HD unit for recording within my DAW. Works with guitar rig or just straight.

This works well as far as the sound goes, but the plug does not stay in. It should be better designed so that the plug stays in. It's also quite difficult to remove from my uke so that I can try repositioning it or using it on another instrument. (So it sticks pretty well -- this is either a plus or a minus, depending on your point of view.) The flimsiness of the connection led me to just buy an acoustic-electric uke.
