This is the first wheel I ever laced. I had some issues, but it has more to do with being my first time than anything else. Most "how to" videos I found focused on 36H rims, this is a 48H rim, following the instructions as best I could I laced it wrong the first time, I think the "handedness" may be backwards to common, but I'm not 100%. I do know I couldn't reach the spokes on the last segment of 4 so I had to start over and come up with my own way of making this work that wasn't what Sheldon Brown or most of the You Tube videos told me to do, but close enough and it came out regular and solid.Instead of lacing one side, then the other and twisting afterward I discovered I had to lace one side, twist and lace the opposite direction then build from there. The factory Eastern rim I'm replacing appears to have been done the same way I did it. All my other bikes (all 36H) appear to have been built the other way. All of this being said starting at the valve hole still caused my valve hole to be in a cross section instead of between the parallels. If I had it to do over I would start one away from the valve hole so the hole would be in the parallels, as it stands I can attach my pump so I'm calling it good enough.
