As many others have mentioned, the plastic insert/bushing on the top broke and fell down into the hollow tube. Second fishing trip it’s been used… Caused a major inconvenience, so I got creative and filled the tube with expand-a-foam to keep the plastic bushing pushed to the top of the tube. That actually worked to get us through the 6 day fishing trip. Not a long term solution. Will be requesting a replacement, and probably filling it with expand-a-foam before it breaks (non-hollow tube like and boat’s original 30 year old posts of the same brand).

This pedestal broke the first time I sat on it! I was out of town on fishing trip and it made it an inconvenience. I would like to get a new one or refund but I’m not sure how to do that

After less than 2 months use, the top plastic fitting broke and sent my seat (with me in it) sinking 4” down into the pipe. I regret not taking a photo of the broken piece that busted and dropped down inside the pipe but it so happened that the friend out fishing with me that day has a machine shop where he took it and welded a much more sturdy and permanent top piece on for me the very next day (as seen in the pic). I definitely would NOT recommend this product.
