This is a nicely machined downcut bit that requires a collet adapter for most routers. The bit is well protected in its own case. The machining is good, with a smooth shank and sharp flutes. You can see a few machining lines in the off areas of the flutes but not on the shank.I had a chance to run it with a Skil router and reducing ring on some plywood, using a Bora fence as a guide. I didn't notice premature dulling, but it will take a while to push the bit. CNC users may wish to weigh in with a review.

After light use maybe 10 minutes the bit was dull and could no longer cut without burning

I've used other bit from this brand and have had good luck with most of them. I'm not normally a fan of a combination uncut/downcut bit, however, this one cuts cleanly and can be run on a healthy speed. I wanted a bit over 1/4", so the 3/8" is a good size for moderate cleaning paths. After dialing in the right speed and feed rate, I can't see any damage to the flutes on the bit at all, so indications are it will be durable. The cuts are clean and sharp. For a bit as quality as this one, the price is right.

Spiral Bit & Compression BitI have started several projects with plastic sheets, different types of plastic and one thing about plastic and regular wood bits, chatter. The Spiral Up and Compression Bit are excellent for clean smooth cuts, dressing edges to a templet, and just in general. As for cutting plywood, the compression bit makes for a very clean cut as compared to a normal bit that tears and pulls up the laminates. These Bits are exceptional.
