Lord Bergamot Blend No. 55
Earl Grey Black Tea
A flavor somewhat superior to traditional Earl Grey. Fragrant Ceylon Dimbula and Uva are artfully combined with select teas from India's Assam valley, then scented with the flavor of bergamot from the realm of Reggio Calabria, Italy.
INGREDIENTS
Assam
Assam tea is the biggest, brightest, richest and most astringent tea made. It is the backbone to breakfast style teas of nearly all brand and quality although it is also used in many blends for body and top notes. Assam is less floral and has more bread or biscuit-like flavor than other origins, and is often described as malty or coppery.
Bergamot Oil
Bergamot is a citrus fruit the color of a lime and the size of a large orange. Picked when ripe, the thick peel is removed and pressed like an olive to extract its essential oils. It has a distinctive flavor and aroma with notes of lavender, lemon and spice.
Ceylon Dimbula
The Dimbula region is directly opposite the Uva region in Sri Lanka. Dimbulas are often called “Westerns” in the tea trade. They have a reddish amber color in the cup, with a medium to full body, slightly fruity flavor and mineral notes. Ceylon Dimbulas are often used in medium bodied blends, Earl Grey formulas and other flavored teas. The best Dimbula teas are produced from December to February.
Ceylon Uva
Situated 1100 meters above sea level on the island of Sri Lanka, the Uva region produces teas of distinctly different character from their Ceylonese siblings. Uvas are astringent, intensely floral and slightly sharp in flavor with a golden cup color. They add “bite” and freshness to blends.

How to Steep Your Tea
Bring filtered water to a boil. Steep black teas and herbal infusions 5 minutes. For green, white and oolong teas, let water cool a bit to 190° and steep 3 minutes.

Teas can be very personal in terms of what any individual enjoys, but for those familiar with Stephen Smith and his background, this is a stellar example of a simple, subtle, and yet very balanced depth of flavors for a black tea. Not overpowering, in fact, probably a little more subtle than most. Well, to be totally honest, I find that this blend is so good for me that I use more water than recommended because even then the flavors are pronounced but subtle and it allows me to sip this tea for much longer and still enjoy. If you use the recommend 6-8 ounces the flavor comes up a notch or two, but for some reason I enjoy the light interplay of flavor notes even when it isn't as strong. In fact, for me that is a major selling point since most teas are kind of a flavor "bang" and then done and even 6 ounces of water is enough to empty everything out of the tea leaves. These leaves seem to continue to leach flavors into the water much longer than most commercial teas, which I attribute to the quality of the underlying ingredients. And, if a black tea isn't your cup of tea (so to speak ;-) ) you generally can't go wrong with Stephen Smith teas in general!

Recently, I had the pleasure of staying in a historic hotel in downtown Napa, CA, where I was delighted to find that tea was included in my package. The unique flavor, taste, and aroma of this tea instantly captivated me. As a tea lover, I can confidently say that this is one of the most exceptional teas I've ever had. To fully appreciate its unique flavor, I recommend using hot water and letting the tea bag steep for at least 5 minutes. I personally enjoy sweetening it with pure honey. お値段は確かにややお高めですがこれは美味しい！ポートランドブレックファーストは例えるなら紅茶でありながら一切雑味のない澄んだウーロン茶のような風味が特徴で紅茶の良いところと中国茶の良い所をかけ合わせたスッキリ系のお茶です日本人の味覚からするとすごくホッとする味と香りだと思います味に分かりにくさや強いクセは感じられませんでした

Pro: I enjoyed the bags, easy to use and the tea leaves contained in the mesh bag are as described and a good strength and dark rich color when brewed. The leaves are very aromatic! If money is no object and you need a cuppa black tea than I can recommend this one, no doubt.Con: Comes in a flip top box that would be nice if it the box hadn't been dented and crushed by other items. I wouldn't give it as a gift for that reason. It's also ridiculously expensive and it isn't available in a decaffeinated version so just not worth it for me at a $1 per bag. Much less costly Earl Grey Tea is available and fits my budget better. I'm more of a Columbia dark medium roast coffee drinker myself, and prefer decaffeinated beverages for my health.

This tea is very good, especially if you like a robust tea with a bit of a smoky flavor. I find that I actually enjoy the tea more as I get further into the cup. It seems to mellow a bit. But I would definitely buy it again.
