Very nice quality, cast iron and wood handle which should make it last a long time. The cast iron is pre seasoned so you dont have to spend time seasoning it which is nice. This smasher is nice and heavy which is great for smashing your burgers down to a thin patty, also perfect for holding down bacon so it doesnt curl up in the pan.

Smash them burgers! Better than forming your burgers in your hands. Of course you can just plop your bottle Burger down on your frying pan and use this to match it. I'm a little OCD so I actually have DIY Burger template or form. I use the top to a big plastic jar of treats for our lab. But a piece of wax paper over it, get a big ball of burger put this on it and then smash it down get a perfect circle. The quality of this thing is good, has wood handle, very simple, the metal is good quality. Sort of looks like the finish is non-stick but I don't know if that's the case and I don't see how it would really matter when it's not a cooking surface, so maybe I'm wrong. In any event definitely makes the job easier.

Not too much to say other than this did exactly what I hoped and expected it to do-smash some burgers! It’s nice and heavy and works perfectly to make smash burgers and pressed sandwiches (and I’m sure lots of other things, but those are the only things I cared about!) Great item for a great price-definitely happy that I finally got one!

Not much to say other than this tool does its job perfectly. Made awesome smash burgers. The method I used was as follows: 80/20 ground chuck, roll into balls that weight around 2.2-2.5 oz (yes, i used a kitchen scale for each one). Get the griddle hot, maybe around 450. Lightly grease griddle. Place a ball on, use parchment paper in between ball and smasher, and press down as hard as you can and wiggle it around to get it even. Leave on griddle for 1 min, until almost all the way cooked through. As this is going, salt and pepper the raw side. Flip using a very thin scraper to get all the crust to stay intact. Once flipped, hit it with some american cheese and you're done. Clean up is easy with this press since you use parchment paper in between the meat and the press.

I ordered this Pisol Smash Burger Press, Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Hamburger Smasher, 2 lb Heavy-Duty Grill Bacon Meat heavy press because my son wanted to experiment in the kitchen.We love making our own home version of Freddy burgers, which are pressed thin as they cook, and my son wanted to try a home recipe for taste-alike Smash burgers, so I was pleased to see this two pound burger press. Yep, it’s a two pound press (ours weighed 1.99 pounds on our scale), and yes, it is heavy. It also presses the meat flat much more easily than the jerryrigged presses we’ve tried before, like pressing with the bottom of a coffee mug or using a small plate. This burger press really presses the meat down into the pan; the resulting burgers are very thin and you can easily cook them crispy on both sides. This makes a great double cheeseburger!The press is made from food grade cast iron with a wooden handle; it arrives pre seasoned, so you don’t need to treat the cast iron before the first use. It’s great for making thin burgers, it’s also an easy way to keep your bacon from curling as it fries. I’ve played around a little bit using it as a panini press; because of the weight, it takes some thought and practice. It worked well on thicker sandwiches, we tried it on a classic white bread and American cheese, and the resulting grilled cheese was beautifully browned, but a bit thinner than my family preferred.The sales page says this is dishwasher safe, very convenient. I’ve been hand washing because of the wooden handle; it cleans up very easily. The bottom of the press is flat and super quick to clean.At the current price ($21.98) I think this is excellent value; I’ve seen burger presses that coast much more that weren’t as sturdy. This should last a good long time, it’s quite well made. I appreciate the convenience of the pre seasoned cast iron; convenient, and you can start cooking right away.A great gift idea for guys who love grilling; also for all kinds of home cooks. This could be a good addition to a kitchen gift basket for a shower or housewarming present; it’s the kind of kitchen gadget will love adding to their kitchen arsenal.

I have another burger smasher that's considerably smaller in diameter and, although it's all stainless steel, it simply doesn't have the weight I'd like. This year, I decided to replace it, and this Pisol Smash Burger Press ticked all the boxes for what I wanted - large diameter (6.6"), cast iron, and heavy (2 Lbs). It has a wooden handle which is very well crafted and, of course, stays cool in use. The iron casting is very well done, too.Even though this burger smasher comes pre-seasoned, as I do when I first receive any cooking tool that's made of cast iron (or carbon steel) and/or has wooden parts, I oiled the wooden handle with food safe oil (same as I use on my cutting boards) and after that soaked in, I washed the smasher with hot soapy water, dried thoroughly, and seasoned the cast iron.The next day, it was time to try out this new beast. I like the 2-patty type smash burger, and, on making the first smashed patty, I automatically used the force I used to use with the old smasher. This produced a HUGE, very thin —much bigger than the bun, rather than the usual, slightly larger — patty which, remarkably, held together when I flipped it! For the second patty, I let the smasher do most of the work and it was perfect! I can't wait for warmer weather, so I can use this burger smasher on the grill.Of course, smashing burgers isn't the only use for this item. It's also great for keeping foods flat while pan frying.This burger smasher is a great value and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a very well-made tool for kitchen or grill.
