This is how I used these...I poked holes through a neoprene scuba diving hood with an ice pick, then I attached a circular donut shaped piece of metal with hole in the middle to the hood with these. I was able to hold the metal piece with a magnet or my finger tips while screwing this grommet tight with a screw driver. I've worn the hoody 10+ times and their staying put, so I'm pleased
