Solidly constructed, well designed and accurate. Being made of stainless steel will ensure that rust doesn’t become a problem.

Yes, it's made in China. Yes, the older ones (like the one JSK Koubou uses in his Youtube videos) were made in Japan...but the one I got was a perfect 45 and (almost) perfect 90. I actually have a genuine made-in-japan 135 degree Shinwa - that is 20+ years old and it's not quite as perfect as this version is. Maybe I'm lucky, but I am definitely satisfied!!

The description states that it's aluminum but it's actually stainless steel, very well made and nicely finished, just the thing for fine finish and cabinet work. It might be too small for timber framing or work at that scale.

Small size makes it a great set up tool. I use it all the time

I was initially disappointed to see that the tool was made in China, as I specifically ordered this particular item because the brand is Japanese. Considered returning it, but as there wasn't really an actual Japanese alternative, and I needed it for a project, I decided to just go ahead and use it.While I'm disappointed it's made in China, I'm happy with the tool. It appears to be of high quality, and the aesthetics are interesting, considering it's a pretty basic tool. Very accurate, solid construction with a good weight to it, and for less than $20 I'd say its a decent value. Works well for what I need to do, and would recommend it to others as long as they understand it's not made in Japan.

It is very accurate for trim work. It does not fit in the pouches of my Bucket Boss tool bibs but does fit very nicely in the back pocket of my Riggswear pants and shorts.
