Your cart is empty.Gone are the days of deciding between road and mountain bike components to throw on your gravel rig -- instead, Shimano's GRX groupset offers a whole slew of new components that are tuned specifically to those of us who prefer the any-road life. The all-new GRX FD-RX810 Front Derailleur is designed for gravel specific riding, and while it contains much of the same technology that you'll find in Shimano's Ultegra road front-derailleur, it's build a little bit differently to accommodate a chainline that's pushed outwards a few millimeters, which enables extra tire clearance, so you can roll atop a bit of pneumatic suspension for those miles of jarring gravel grinds. The new GRX front derailleur sits 2. 5-millimeters outboard from traditional road derailleurs, which means a big boost in clearance for your frame, tires, and debris. This also means that is placement is a bit different than with a standard crankset, which makes it solely compatible with GRX two-by cranks, offering the placement you need for precise shifts of up to 17-tooth range. The shift mechanism is light and ergonomic, and packs in toggle-link construction that enables heaps of different cable routing options, and also features an integrated cable tensioners to ease setup and quick fixes. Like its Ultegra counterpart, the GRX front derailleur is constructed from chrome-plated steel, which is robust against mud, rocks, and bumps. In addition to the steel cage, Shimano employs stainless steel hardware and bolts, aluminum inner links, and graphene fiber-reinforced outer link. The braze-on bracket is forged and painted aluminum, keeping weight at a minimum, without sacrificing durability and shift feel.

I'm running this front derailleur with a band-on adapter and it shifts great. It took me quite a while to get it set up properly simply due to the tight clearances that 2x11 drivetrains have. It's no inherent fault of the shifter, just something to be aware of. Once I got it set up all the way, I had to do some adjustments after a couple rides because of the cable stretching, but after that it has stayed pretty dialed. I have it attached to a Shimano 105 BR-R7070 brifter and the indexing is spot on. I've got a GRX M600 crankset (note that it won't work for 105 or Ultegra cranksets due to differences in chain-line) and it works perfectly with it. Overall, I'm very happy with this derailleur.

As usual this shimano product is very well made. however, it is fiendishly difficult to set up and is much more complicated than any other front derailleur I have ever used in the past 40 years. Why? Who knows? It does work fine once set up, but it takes a lot of effort to figure it out. You will need to have the dealer instruction manual in front of you to do it. You will never figure it out without the manual.

Works like a champ. It was the part I needed that was causing problems with shifting my bike after replacing the front crank. Be sure and double check the compatibility of parts with Shimano’s guide. Just because it’s Shimano doesn’t mean it will work.

I've read in numerous places that this must be paired with a GRX crank and should not be mixed with other Shimano cranks like a 105. It works for me with a GRX crank and 105 levers and rear derailleur.
