For years I owned a set of Quicksilver (Mercury) brand flushing muffs. I used them on a several Mercury and Yamaha outboards ranging from 20 HP up to 175 HP. The sealing cups were made of rubber, or some type of rubber composite. They easily formed a good seal around the lower unit water intake screens, regardless of engine size or manufacturer. Unfortunately, when I sold my last outboard, I gave the buyer the flushing muffs with it. I just bought a classic 13' Boston Whaler with a 2020 25 HP Yamaha and needed another set of flushing muffs. I saw the Seneca muffs online, read the description and reviews, and ordered a set. I just got them today and the sealing cups are more of a thin, hard, plastic material that I couldn't get to form a seal, no matter how many different times I tried to position them. Decided to run to a Mercury dealer up the road, and they had a set of SeaChoice flushing muffs. The sealing cups on these are much closer to the old Quicksilver ones I gave away. They make a very good seal. Stay away from the Seneca muffs, they're garbage.
