I ordered these "earmuffs" to run my outboard motor on my boat before I left the house so check to see if there were ANY issues with it before I hit the water. Got to say, glad I did, 2 out 2 times I tried to let the motor run I ran into issues so I am glad I purchased this product and ran the motor before I hit the water! Made what could have been a major ordeal downriver into an aggravation at the house! Product does what it is supposed to do and appears to be well made. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to purchase boat motor earmuffs on Amazon versus in a brick and mortar store.

I was worried about finding muffs that would work for my Volvo Penta 290DP because the inlet vents are on the front/leading edge of the drive. I was surprised by the tight fit of these muffs. I was also concerned that they wouldn't seal enough so I added a small grip clamp to them and they sealed perfectly. Honestly, I think I could have gotten away without using the clamp. There was no leaking around the muffs and the motor pulled water up inside of it. I ran the motor and drive for 10-12 minutes without any issues. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend it, especially if have a Volvo Penta 290DP with leading edge inlets. I know this product would work for side inlet drives without question.

Works as described, love that the muffs turn so you can properly set to the intake. Also bought a valve kit so you can turn the hose on and off while you’re working.

I have an older design which Ive used for years, frankly not made as well as this one. The arms are made of a good quality spring steel which keep the ears gripped on the lower unit. This is made well so I expect it will be used for many years to come. You have to flush your outboard or inboard every time you use it. Even fresh water will cause corrosion.

Worked great! Was able to rotate muffs & hose hookup for perfect fit. While engine was not running, water was leaking past of course but once I started engine there was no leakage. This was important because I was also using this with an Antifreeze winterizer kit and didn't want to waste antifreeze.

Disclaimer: I haven't actually used it yet but did test fit it on mercury alpha one. I will update review after full test.From what I can tell the build quality is very good and is almost excellent. The main hose connection seems questionable but the rest of the connections, clamps and connector hoses are top quality. If the main connection fails it would be hard to repair.The main spring seemed to take memory a little too easily but it did hold very strong on my alpha one.I think this earmuff will work extremely well and it only cost about $14 which is awesome value. I will be doing a full test soon and will post an update.

Solid construction and worked like a charm! I was going to go mid range in pricing but am glad I went with the low priced model. Its only function is to shoot water into the lower gills and it does that fine with no leakage from connection. Big recommend!

I used it on my 70 hp Evrinrude OB motor. Works really well. It's solid and stays in place after you set it!

It works! Easy to use. Do not be misled by dropping water from underneath, as soon as thermostat open its valve there is no more leak as water is running through engine.
