Came with everything in the photo. Has a watertight seal, whistle (very loud) and everything else in photos. Came on time and in great condition. Very pleased

These are great, inexpensive match holders that happen to have a few extras. The whistle is a useful feature. The compass is nearly useless, but it might be a little helpful in a pinch. Bought a bunch of these for my kids and as gifts for neices and nephews.

We bought these mainly for the whistle, and that works great! I have also made use of the empty vial for things such as dry matches. I have a few female friends who hike with me and use it for a stash of tp. I don't know that I would count too much on the compass. It's better than nothing, but if I had to use it, I would unscrew it, set it on a sturdy surface such as a rock and gently tap the glass. All in all, for the price, a very useful buy.

I ride my bike on trails back in the woods . This is ok for that . The compass gives you a very general heading off by as much as 20 degrees you better know what side of the tree's moss grows on to double check . The flint is not useful . The match case is waterproof so I put some drier lint soaked in vasoline in it with some underwater matches and a couple strikers off match packs . The whistle works well but you cannot use it for marine safety because it is not pea less which was what I wanted to use it for and sadly did not pick up on . Because pea's often fail they are not normally used in survival applications . For $1.50 or so I am not disappointed but I couldn't give it a high score because it is not very functional though if you ever fell into a ravine off a trail out of site and couldnt' get up as long as the pea didn't fail you could blow SOS and hope someone walking up on the trail heard you and knew what it meant . You might be able to start a small fire with your matches and keep warm and it is emergency orange to help someone see you . The mirror is in the match cap and about a 1/2 inch around so I do not know how good a signal you could make that anyone could see . Being older I should be wiser and know you really need good quality items for survival and you pray you never need them . Right now I have it tied to my boat steering wheel with a pea less whistle on board but inside a emergency kit incase I am inspected but I keep this one out incase I need to get someones attention . I rarely go trail riding at night but if I did I would take it on my bike ride - if you fell and someone was looking for you in the dark it might help . I make sure I take my cell phone first and pray I have tower coverage back there .This is better then nothing and a good little gift for a child to get them thinking about survival preparation and safety . If your not going to spend the money for better equipment it is the least you should do when hiking in rural areas along with always taking your phone in a waterproof case or plastic bag if water is around .

i bought several of these, as my daughters go camping and hiking and i wanted them to have something to use in an emergency so they could have one and their kids could have one .. so far, thank goodness, only my grand-daughter had to use the whistle once when she was crossing a stream and got stuck on a rock in the middle .. the whistle did its purpose and my daughters heard and ran to her rescue .. i am more than happy with this purchase .. even if the compass doesn't work perfectly, the whistle and waterproof container are perfect for the price ..received fast (and free) shipping (from hong kong) so what's the problem with the other reviews ..? are they looking for gold and diamond encrusted items for this price .. ? give it a rest ..

I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the item. It is very compact for what it provides. the button compass is small, but seems to function very well. the small signal mirror under the compass button cap was a very pleasant surprise. I plan to have one in every one of my survival and emergency kits.

I must compliment the seller on the fast shipping and good pkging. BUT, this is about the product. I'd heard about the pea sticking in the whistle, and...they were right. You can't blow it at all without the over sized plastic pea sticking and making the inital weak whistling come to a complete stop. I wouldn't rely on the whistle at all in a survival situation!! That's why I carry at least 2 of the tiny fox howlers with me.I was surpriced to find the compass actually worked! Not pin point accurate of course, but it would get you in the general area you were aiming for. Has a rubber o-ring seal around the storage compartment lid. I tested it with some paper inside, it didn't leak in the short time I held it underwater. So I would think it's pretty water resistant, not sure if it's water proof for long periods of underwater submerging however. The cordage is cheap nylon and literally pulls apart if you try to tie a knot...I replaced it. The plastic will probably crack if you drop it. It's that hard plastic which is easy to break, not like the softer plastic on Coleman's match containers. If you do drop it, it's orange and you'll be able to find it. The tiny flint on the side isn't worth trying to strike...you'll tear up the plastic container. The signal mirror inside the lid is good enough to look at an eye if you have something in it, but as a SIGNAL mirror...way too small!I did like the large compartment area. I measured out a 2 1/2" x 15" long piece of white paper, arranged my 4 small fish hooks, 2 leaders, 3 small eye-screws swivels, 12' of fishing line, 3 split shot sinkers and couple plastic lures on it. Covered it with same amount of clear packing tape, then rolled it up into a tube and slipped it inside the compartment. I even had room in the center of the rolled up tube, to place some power bait pellets, extra line and a small foam bobber.I bought it with the full intent of making it into a tiny emergency back up fishing kit to toss into my backpack or glove compartment of my car. It works for that purpose quite well. I intend on making one for each of my 3 grandsons. Don't buy this for a survival kit and don't count on it as such!
