The "fingernail" grind is a popular edge with woodturners because it is easy to use and control and extremely versatile. Pull and push cuts, delicate shearing cuts, or full profile cuts can be made with ease. The medium grind lends itself to easy modification, allowing you to create profiles specifically suited to your turning requirements. Overall length 16-1/2".

This is a great wood turning guage for lathe turning. I have several of the Sorby tools, thats why I keep buying them, they got them right, please dont change anything, ha ha

I have always purchased Sorby tools as they are of the best quality. This bowl gouge replaces the same one I have used daily for three years. I sharpen tools a lot and so opted to buy a new one at original full length. Reground the older one for another purpose.

I've been a woodworker for a long time, a turner not so long. When I first started out I purchased a set of cheap Chinese turning tools that were ok for in the beginning, but the more I developed my woodturning skills I found out why it was important to have a quality tool in my hand. Lets just say not all HSS is the same. The cheap Chinese steel is ok near the edge, but as you continue to shapen the tools they lose their edge very quickly, (due to the quality of the HSS). This is NOT the case with any Robert Sorby turning tool I have purchased to this date.I now own 8 different R.S. turning tools and the HSS these tools are made from is quality through and through, they are worth the extra money now so you don't develop the headaches I had in the beginning. They are made in Europe and worth every penny! I will buy nothing else from this point on. The fit and finish are spot on.
