I think this is a quality globe, it's a bit smaller than I expected, but it is the size described. The USA's states are shown and labeled, but not Mexico's, or Canada's or any other country except the USA. This is confusing when trying to explain geography to a 6 year old boy. I appreciate this globe for its accuracy and affordability.

All these 5 and 4 star reviews are mystifying -- are people's expectations this low?The manufacturing qualities of this globe are terrible. The base is metal, but about the thickness of a cookie sheet. It has no weight and this would tip over easily. The meridian bar is a little wobbly, held to the cake pan weight base by a single bolt. The globe does not spin in a friction free manner, instead you can feel a gritty resistance. Indicative of the manufacturing quality, on the South Pole mounting point is a plastic insert and it is cut so roughly you can see the blade marks on the cut end, as if it was cut in someone's garage with a hack saw. They didn't even bother to sand the face after cutting. I hadn't expected perfection for $85, but I didn't expect some dollar store level of quality either.

Much better product! I returned the first one I ordered from another company, which was more expensive but cheaper quality.I am happy with this globe and I’m sure my grandson will enjoy.

We bought this globe as a Christmas present for our 10 yr old grandson. The quality and finish of the globe is excellent. The mountain ranges are raised and add a nice tactile sense to it. Shipping was fast, the globe well packed with no damage. It makes a great gift, or for your desk or shelf.

Expensive, but I guess it's worth it. The grandkids spend a lot of time looking at our Earth and are beginning to learn how big things are. The size of the oceans is something even I still have a hard time grasping :) This Globe has great graphics and makes good use of the available space to write the names of places on. The bumps where mountains are located is a great feature. I used a Sharpie to indicate family places. As long as this globe isn't abused or bounced around it's a good buy for the price. Well made and weighty, I hope it will inspire the kids for a long time.

This is a decent, relatively well made globe. I had been searching for one off and on, for several months. After reading the reviews, I went with this one as it seems to be the most accurate and up to date. I'm using this for home education purposes, and this feature is most important to me.I also wanted something that would not be an eyesore displayed in pur our living and dining rooms. Although I wouldn't describe the globe as "beautiful," it also doesn't look cheap or tacky. It's a nice looking globe, seems to be sturdy enough (apparently, you can't get a globe under $100, that doesn't have a cheap plastic or tin-like base). All of the lines match up well at the seams and the surface appears to be water resistent enough that I'll be able to wipe it clean with a slightly damp cloth and not cause any damage.I have seen many globes that were much more expensive than this one, and the reviews were not nearly as positive. I feel that for the price, this is about as good as it gets. All in all, this globe fits all of my needs quite well and I'm pleaaed with the purchase. The delivery was also fast, which I do appreciate very much.

I found the quality to be very good. The printing was small but easy to read and everything was aligned properly. The globe itself appears to be a composite of a printed surface with either a metal or plastic inner sphere. It is substantial and should hold up well under reasonable use. It is perfectly round and spins easily. US states are each labeled and are individually colored, making their shape and borders easy to see. The mountainous areas are slightly raised. The raised areas are very subtle in appearance, but if you run your fingers over them you can get a sense of the more significant mountain ranges. The base and frame are sturdy metal, which should last a long time. It is very stable on a flat surface. Overall I found this to be a handy reference and educational aid. To me a globe is superior to maps or computer images in that it gives a perspective that can't be achieved with a flat image. It's great for kids to touch and look at to appreciate the place where we live and how we travel around it. They might otherwise only see a flat paper map or computer screen. It is as well made as the ones we had in school many years ago. It is also completely made in the USA.

I am a homeschooler and wanted a globe that would last for years; however, I was overwhelmed with all the globe choices and skeptical of the bad reviews for so many including this one. One reviewer noted that this was up to date for 2015, so that was in the pro for us. Also, several reviewers said the seam didn't meet up and that was a big concern; however, several other brands had similar comments on the seam. So, at the end of the day the good reviews for this one about color, topography, base, and most importantly being current to 2015 and EASY to read won out. It's Amazon, so I figured if I got a bad one that the seams didn't match up I would return it. The price was right, and I really wanted the ocean to be blue and to be able to easily read the lettering for my preschooler and 3rd grader. This globe meets all those needs and is really pretty! The colors are nice and it is easy to read. The base is nice and it really looks more expensive. Don't let the bad reviews scare you away. It is easy to read, current, well made and if you get a bum one with bad seams try again. I spent hours looking and you don't have to if you need this for school as well this one is great!
