Doing work on a steep metal roof made these ladder hooks invaluable. While I prefer to attach 2 per ladder, they do hold up to the claim of being able to use just one. I'm a pretty big guy and a single one does flex a little bit with the combined weight of me plus the ladder. They are built solidly, and the attached wheel makes getting the ladder into position pretty easy.

I recently used the Qualcraft 2481 Ladder Hook with Wheel while installing my metal roof, and it was an absolute lifesaver. The hook's design made it incredibly easy to secure my ladder, providing a stable and safe working environment. The wheel feature allowed for smooth movement along the roof, which significantly reduced the effort and time required for the installation. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient ladder hook for roofing projects.just wish they told me it comes in pairs, I ordered two and had to return one

Note that this price is actually for a set, so you only need to buy one. Heavy and strong. The wheel is a bit small so manouvering on the roof is tricky, esp galvanized iron. The wheel also rotates, which you need to keep in mind as the ladder can slide back towards you when angled.

Used this a few times installing Christmas lights, and it's certainly serviceable. Not as stiff as some others, but held me up no problem. The clamp wasn't a super great fit, might take a bit of playing. My biggest complaint is the wheel. A fixed wheel should be cheaper and is certainly safer; you run the risk of you ladder "falling over" while installing/uninstalling it on the ridge because this wheel allows horizontal movement.

Had to re screw the tin roof on my shop, boy is this slick, bought two for my ladder and it holds really really well, easy to move about although may depend on the weight of your ladder but I had no problems at all, super secure and slips over the peek with lots of grab, you can work of this all day without that sketchy sick feeling in your stomach that any second you and your tools are going for a ride, highly recommend and for the price it's a no brainer!!

Wheels are only usable on a roof you can reach without a ladder from the ground because it is so heavy with both hooks attached. You would not want to handle this ladder with the hooks attached while standing on a ladder, so I removed them and just used the 2 hooks with a Werner, lightweight, aluminum, 16 foot extension ladder. Try using heavy rope to hold the extension ladder rungs to the upper section of the ladder in order to get to the maximum length of the ladder. It works better as the ladder lies flatter than when connected to the lower section. That said, the hooks grabbed well and held securely at the ridge line shingles. No slippage whatever occurred while I painted laying on my side with my body on the rungs to reach the dormer sidewalls.I was also using a full body harness with SS line connected to fall protection retractable device (while setting hooks in place, moving the ladder and during the painting) for back up safety, so I placed the hooks on the roof ridge while having the body harness and safety line attached, as well as moving the ladder from place to place along the ridge line for painting sides of the dormers on a very steep roof.It is absolutely necessary to have a back up safety system when you use these hooks and extension ladder as I was forced to do, so be very focused on having a plan B at all times. The edge of the roof I worked on is 16 feet above my asphalt driveway - wouldn't want to slip and land on that surface from that height!

They fit the ladder perfectly and were easy to install. They also work perfectly. Pushing a 12 ft ladder up the roof is made very easy with the castors. Then you flip the ladder over and the hooks grip the opposite side of the roof peak. These should be sold in pairs, because they really need to used in pairs (per instructions), and maybe they could be built slightly lighter? They significantly add to the weight of the ladder. The cross pieces on the ends might be improved by making them a triangular shape where two bolts could be used to keep them from rotating unintentionally (and they could be aluminum). On one use, one of the cross pieces, in spite of being bolted very tightly to the hook, got rotated to where it was parallel with the hook instead of being at 90º as shown in the picture. Since the bolt was tight, I had to take the ladder back down to fix the problem. Maybe keeping the bolts slighty loose would prevent that from happening? Professional roof ladders used by firemen don't have those cross pieces, so maybe removing them is a viable solution. However, I think the cross pieces are easier on the roof than the hook points without them.

Summary, awesome! Love it!My wife and I are in a house that has 2 levels and hanging lights on the roof above the garage was impossible and dangerous because of the slope of the roof so you couldn't do it from above, and I didn't have a ladder high enough to reach. BUT the you could get onto the ridge of the first level and then climb to the ridge of the second level. Only problem was you couldn't go down the roof at all because of the steepness of it. This meant we were going to go "lightless" for christmas this year.I did check with people that hang lights professionally and the going rate was about $175.. Way too much for me to spend. So I did some searching and found these ridge mount ladder hooks. I had no idea something like this existed. After reading the reviews I wasn't sure if they would work because people mentioned how unsafe it was, etc. But I decided I could always return them if they didn't work so I pulled the trigger and ordered 2.The box arrived and was beat to hell, but that was ok, these are made of steel and if it can't take the abuse of UPS getting it to my house there is no way I would trust it with my life. Good news, they were in perfect condition when I pulled them through the hole in the box.I was using these on my little giant which I wasn't sure would work, but I am happy to say it did, it worked perfectly. I was able to secure both hooks (I ordered 2, they only come in single units) and did some initial tests by banging it and pulling on them to see if they would pop off, they didn't.I was ready to hang the lights. I carried everything up to the roof then lifted my ladder up and walked along the ridge to the second level, put the ladder down and in about 7 seconds felt totally comfortable and confident. There was no wobble, no shaking. These things held onto the roof well with no damage to it and kept the ladder exactly where I wanted it. I was able to then climb down the ladder which was hooked onto the ridge and hang lights along the slope of the roof. I then got to the bottom where the gutter was and sat on the bottom run and felt secure while attaching lights along the gutter. I had to climb up to the ridge, move the ladder over a few feet and then climb back down and start all over as I was doing part of the roof, but the entire time I felt 100% safe. The cost to have someone hang lights on my rood was $175. These cost me $21 each for a total of $42. It took me less then an hour to do my lights and I saved $133 PLUS these things will last for years. This is one of the best tool purchases I have ever made, I love these hooks. If you need something like this get these, but note they only come in single units so you need to order 2. Some people say you can use just one, I wouldn't trust it. With 2 the ladder is held at 2 points which prevents it from swinging side to side. With one who knows what could happen. I submitted 2 pictures of my ladder on my roof as well.If you found my review helpful please marm it as so!
