I use these undersized dowels to align the mating holes. I remove them & then hammer home the 1/4" dowel.

I don’t think this are made of hardwood. Snapped several of the 5mm ones with very little force. I would look elsewhere.

Exactly what I needed, fully IKEA compatible. Far more than I needed, but I can reuse these for woodwork and other furniture. Worth the price even if all they did was save me having to drive to IKEA for the four pegs I was missing!

Product diameter is dimensionally oversize. Advertised at 3/16” dia. Checked a dozen units with a digital caliper and they all measured 13/64” dia (1/64” oversize). Tried press fitting them into a true 3/16” hole however this caused the wood to split. Found dimensionally accurate dowels at local hardware store and finished project. Returning these dowels to vendor.
