For the price, these did exactly what I purchased them for - protecting my speakers. I have 2 pioneer 12" subs in my trunk. The excursion is half an inch. These grills sit at just about an inch, so plenty of room for my subs. You may need to check the specs for yours, as some competition subs have much longer excursion specs. The holes lined up perfectly with the subs' holes, making installation quick and painless. My subs do have plastic trim rings, but they are beveled, which allow the grills to sit perfectly. These were a great buy, especially for the price!

Using on my 12" American Bass subs.Have not installed yet. They feel very durable. When I unboxed the only issue is how the grill is connected to the plastic ring. One of the plastic connectors was not even fastened. Glad for that because I decided to take my treble tool to them and grind them off. Once the grill was separated. I ground the plastic ring mounting points flush. I feel it is much better the grill lying flat on the plastic ring. Without the fastener clips protruding through the grill. I also feel it will eliminate any possible rattles. I put a bead of rubber cement onto plastic grill insert. Clamped made sure glue was spewing over. After it was dry. I took off clamps, filled up the holes along the outside edge of the grill. Hope you can see from the picture..

The metal is just basic steal it seems to me, its rigid, so it does the job well, and the design shape does work, it fits (barely) around my 12" pioneers and my subs don't hit it even at full power (500W RMS with BassBoost set at +8dB and my equalizer set to my Hip-Hop preset with max digital bass boost). The plastic is super cheap, and is held in place by having some of it melted into the screw holes. Overall the plastic is cheap, poorly held in place, I don't believe they even used adhesive, and the metal is machined roughly. The included screws also wouldn't have fit my speakers since the speakers themselves had an oversized plastic housing that would have taken up most of the screw length, but the screw doesn't hold until it gets into the solid wooden box. Luckily I could use my original screws. I would say that in a good quality product the screw holes would have been countersunk. These were very much not. I might one day go back in when working on my system and chamfere the plastic to make the screws sit a little better. I wouldn't call this a quality product, or a genius design. It's designed with a purpose and dumbed down to hit a profit margin. Is it worth $30? Not a chance, could probably have had the same thing shipped on a slow boat for less than half the cost. Is it good enough to not bother taking down and shipping back, yeah. In a pinch, its serves well, though if the plastic broke I would never use it because it will shred everything that gets near the speakers, and I bought it because I'm actually interested in using my trunk from time to time (yes, even though it hurts the sound quality).

Installed this on a Dayton Reference 12" subwoofer, model RSS315-HF. The holes lined up and there is plenty of clearance for the cone to travel. The beehive pattern is great, with holes small enough that my 1 year old cannot stick his finger through them.Minus 1 star for the cheap plastic ring around the metal grill. I ended up cutting it off as it wouldn't sit flush with the woofer, and with only 4 holes available I was concerned things would rattle. Fortunately the metal grill was the exact diameter of the Dayton Reference subwoofer.

These worked perfectly! Very sturdy and professional look. I put these over a pair of Alpine subs and it looks great, not cheap looking at all. At first I was afraid that might make noise with the bass loud but as long as they are screwed in tight they are fine. Great protection and totally worth it so nothing gets stabbed into your subs. TIP: the ones I received only had 4 holes per cover unlike the picture which shows 8 holes per cover. When you install these, first screw your sub into your box with the top, bottom, left and right screw holes (like a plus sign). then add this cover and screw in the other 4 holes (like an X). The reason for this is because if you do it the other way and your subs aren't lined up perfectly straight, the two screws next to each other won't be aligned and it will look weird. If you do it the the way I mentioned, it doesn't have to be exact but still looks even. Take a look at the pictures and you'll see.

These are very nice! I bought them to go in front of the 2 12" Kicker CompD subs I am putting in the left and right consoles of our boat to protect the subs from errant feet. I had been looking at the Kicker grills - but these are half the price and will provide far better protection in a boat. They fit the CompDs perfectly, but I am going to mount them to the carpeted plywood wall in front of the subs, instead of to the subs themselves.

IF you CARE about your subs like I do, these are a MUST-HAVE!! They are excellent quality, rigid enough to withstand wife throwing her Costco-load into back of S.U.V., toddlers climbing over back seat and sitting on speaker, etc...They are definately high-excursion so not to impede your subs performance. I bought a cheaper set previous, and didnt even bother installing them due to flimsiness and not worth drilling holes in my sealed enclosure. Sure, they are twice as expensive as the other options, but for overall protection, they are worth every penny!! Not only are they great sub-protectors, but they look super-nice as well.
