Product Description

The OXO Good Grips Mini Santoku Knife, a Japanese-style knife that combines the utility of a chef's knife and a paring knife, is ideal for mincing herbs and vegetables. The indentations, or kullens, along the blade help to reduce friction, which prevents food from sticking. The sharp Japanese stainless-steel 4-inch blade is stain-proof and hardened for strength. The soft, non-slip handle absorbs pressure to keep you comfortable while prepping. To extend the life of your knife, hand wash with warm, soapy water and dry it promptly.

Pairing the sharpness of a larger knife with the agility of a smaller one, the mini chef's knife by Oxo is the perfect invention for smaller tasks. The sharp stainless-steel blade chops, slices, and cuts with ease, and the tool is easier to maneuver than a full-size knife.

The Good Grips line features durable, nonslip flexible handles on every product. Ergonomically designed to fit the palm comfortably and softly, the pressure-absorbing processed rubber handle puts less tension on the hands, while providing an outstanding grip. Made from the same material dishwasher gaskets are constructed of, the handles are slip-proof, wet or dry, as well as dishwasher-safe. Good Grips products are moderately priced and have won the Tylenol/Arthritis Foundation Design Award. --Laurie Notaro

This is my favorite small knife. It is sharp and just the right size for most kitchen jobs. It is a great chopper.

It is very sharp. It slices through cabbage like butter making it so much easier. Makes nice shreds fast and easy, but watch your fingers. Cheese blocks goes right through. Knife is perfect size, easy to use, good value.

I absolutely love this knife. I use it almost daily when I am cutting up small veggies for my daily salad. It is extremely sharp and cuts through veggies like butter. The handle fits my small hand very well, as I am a small woman. I would buy it again. It is well made and very light weight. Perfect for every day use when one needs a knife a bit bigger than a small paring knife.

Wanted to try this style knife without spending a fortune. It’s lightweight but solid feeling, and sharp. Handle is solid feeling on knife. It’s not a fancy or lovely looking or feeling knife, but it does the job. (Dinner fork to show approximate size)

This is my 'go to' for small jobs from chopping vegetable to slicing small pieces of meat. It's very light, has a great grip and it stays sharp. My mother can't use heavy knives due to bad arthritis - she loves this little knife too.

It's a very light, ok knife. If you used on anything tough or you put exrra weight on it, it would probably break. Not bad for the price tho.

About 17 years ago a handicap friend of mine introduced me to Good Grips. At the time I was impressed with the Mini Chefs knife that is very similar to this.Over the years I have replaced many of my knives with OXO.We use the Paring knives as Steak knives and the 3.5 Professional Paring knives as Paring knives.I purchased this because I was tired of stopping to wash when switching from Vegetables to Meat with the one we have had for years. Now I love these knives but you need to know they are not great for holding an edge.2 or 3 uses or complete meal preps and its best to sharpen them. This is no big deal if you have a sharpener like a Chefs Choice. We have the 3 stage Professional Sharpening Station 130.Three passes on each stage and your edge is better than new but even a 2 stage would work well.As to the critical reviews I have read about blade shape / size. These people do not know knives or how to use them.Apparently there is also a critic who does not know how to operate their Chiefs Choice sharpener either.I have been using the same knives for at least 16 years and none are the worst for wear.Yes we do use a Dishwasher !Without a doubt Carbon Steel is best for holding an edge but they require maintaining.I still use High Tec Carbon steel blade knives for hunting applications but no longer in my kitchen. There are High Tec Stainless blades that can hold an edge but the cost is prohibitive for most kitchens.Cheap or impure stainless often will hold an edge but it also can stain, rust, and warp.In years of use I have seen none of this with these knives.FYI ;The proper use of this knife is in food preparation. The wide curved blade allows you to grip the knife lower, possibly even resting your forefinger the length of the spine or back of blade for good control of the knife. The broad blade also allows you to hold both the blade and handle to chop or mince vegetables. It also is good for transporting what you cut from cutting surface to bowl or pan.The primary function is for the tip or point placed down and against the cutting board or surface.Using the curve of the blade you engage a rocking action for your cuts.Very useful for things like Green Onions or Chives.

I have a larger version of this OXO Santuko I bought many years ago. It's survived whatever the level of punishment that I deemed necessary to deliver upon it. Great solid knife! So when my favorite small task veggie chopper snapped on me (cheap China made knife, but it was great) I wanted a small task Santoku chopper. I found this knife. It's very similair to my other OXO larger Santoku. First what was different. It has no metal butt plate for smashing joints/bones. But that's not what you use this knife for. It's a veggie chopper that can double up in a pinch for small meat jobs like chicken. It's handle, to my disappointment, is not foam rubber, like the other OXO Santoku, but the handle is a fairly soft plastic. Not as good, but not worth a star. The balance on it, like my other OXO Santoku is very good. Not perfect, but for the price paid, it's very good. The knife feels light and agile in the hand. That gives you confidence you have mastery of the steel. The finish of the steel is very well done, with a semi mirror shine. Signs of a quality knife. They took the time to buff it up first. Some knifes in this class they just stamp it out, put an edge on it, and call it done. So good quality looking blade for the money. But it's what the steel can do that matters. The blade is completely wickedly razor sharp. Be careful with it. So the first of a 12 veggie gauntlet was it's duty. The humble tomato skinning test. An acid test of sharpness. It skinned a ripe tomato with nearly zero effort on my part. Nothing but skin. Yup, it's sharp all right. It then continued through the rest of my veggie gauntlet challenge without fear or hesitation. You barely need to apply any pressure for it to start chopping it's way through things. The weight of the knife itself is almost enough. Very well done indeed! Finally, while I noticed the grip on the handle was still excellent, it was time to get it greasy. My other OXO, you can keep a firm controlling level of grip even when it's seriously slick with grease. So I ran it through some chicken legs. Once more, like the veggies, it just......simply killed them. The grip remained, like my other OXO knife, superb. Very good knife. If ur looking for a great small task veggie chopper that offers excellent control this is ur knife!
