Love this thing! Taco Bell used to have Fiesta Taco Salads and I absolutely loved them, now I can make my own!

This made frying tortillas for tacos and tostadas so much easier and more enjoyable. The wire construction is sturdy and durable, and it allows for perfect frying every time, ensuring that my tortillas come out crispy and delicious. The handle is comfortable to hold, even when the basket is full, and it's easy to maneuver in and out of the hot oil. Plus, it's easy to clean, which is always a plus in my book. I highly recommend this fry basket to anyone!

I love being able to make our own Taco salad bowls. The only thing is that you may need a deep pan to make them in. We have a nice deep fryer in which we use only Light Olive oil because it's cleaner, healthier, and can handle the heat of a deep fryer.

Works well. It would be nice if the handles were bent 90 degrees upward. This configuration is easier to use and require smaller container for the oil to fry. To get an even fry its difficult to have the handles straight.

I had been trying to make tortilla bowls by using a small round potato masher and holding it down in a deep fry pan we have. Results were poor. Received this quickly and have been using it ever since. I will say that if you are using "store bought" tortillas, that 8 inch will only make a side salad. 11 inch is much nicer tortilla bowl for a salad bowl. Again, great product that is easy to clean, and no need for a dishwasher.

I have been looking for a set of tortilla fryers for several years with no luck. Finally finding them on Amazon I bought them immediately. These work as advertised. Be aware though, you need a fairly shallow yet wide pan in order to use them effectively because the 90 degree drop from the handle to the basket is pretty short. I use a 3 quart sauce pan but have to end up tilting it to the side in order for the oil to cover the entire tortilla. Still worth it to get home made taco bowels for taco salad, chilli, and stew!

I was buying a deep fryer and this was suggested to me. I figured my mom loves taco salads and its a good price, why not. We have used 12 inch burrito size tortillas and they work just fine. Like another reviewer, the first time I used this I let the tortilla fold around to the outside, so after it was fried I had to break it in that spot to get it out. This is easily fixable. When you are putting in your tortilla just make sure the folds are on the inside and you won't have a problem. My only complaint is that it does not have a long enough drop from the handle to the basket, so it does make it a little tricky to fry the whole thing because the basket can not sit all the way in the fryer(at least not in mine). I make sure to put less tortilla by the handle, making it a little higher on the other side and easier to fry the whole thing. I just move it around a lot in my fryer to try and get it cooked as evenly as possible and they turn out pretty good. My mom sure loves them :) After the first time when it got stuck, and didn't cook the whole thing, I wanted to give up on it. After searching for a different basket and seeing they were all much more expensive, I tried again lol. Practice makes perfect with this one, great product for the price.

I bought this for a party I was having. The main dish was to be taco salad and I really wanted to make my own salad bowls, especially since they cost so much to buy. I tried making the bowls the night before, I probably should have given myself a practice run to learn how to use it, but c'mon it looks so easy right. I had to use a pot b/c that's all I had on hand. I started a fire b/c I filled the pot up too high with oil (Oops!), then I purchased tortillas that were too big. So they cooked unevenly. But when I had hunny run to get me some smaller tortillas those worked well and were quite tasty. Note: Do not try to make the night before - I stored them in Tupperware so they wouldn't get stale and they got soggy instead. So if you buy this - Learn from my mistakes above.
