I am so glad I found this! I use cast-iron skillets frequently as they cook so well. I also had bought a square grill skillet from Amazon and the lid fit perfectly, it looks like a set. Heats up and makes the best panini's! Where you just can't get with a panini press (which I also bought from Amazon and it stopped working after just one use!) I recommend this lid

I bought 3. 1 for my square cast iron grilling pan and 2 to use on my large cast iron grill/ griddle that I’m using on my outdoor grill . Sometimes all used at the same time. I find I’m using them on top of meats in any pan. Inside the oven. On grilled sandwiches. Instead of buying an expensive panini grill this seemed more useful and for once...I did the right thing. I bought my big grill/ griddle from Amazon and two of these fit it perfectly.

Great product, works really well to press down our grilled chicken or steaks. I like to sear the outside of our meats quickly over high heat to create a little crisp outside and juicy center. I haven't tried it on sandwiches, but I bet it's great for cuban sandwiches and other paninis. I probably wouldn't use this on regular white bread as it's probably too heavy, so choose your breads wisely. Also, the knob on ours broke after a couple weeks, but that may have just been random. Probably easy to replace. We just use an oven mit to grab the bare screw.

Needed a panini press for my Le Crueset square grill pan. I was not willing to spend $90 + for just the LC press! I read all the reviews whenever I purchase anything even the negative reviews are relative in any purchase. The Norpro fits just right in my LC square grill pan. What a bargain! I used it twice so far. My son came over and we made NY steak, Swiss cheese and sour dough bread grilled sandwiches using my new Norpro 'enamel' press. The sandwiches were great! We did not have to flip the sandwich over. Both sides were done to a nice crispy grill marked and golden brown. Maybe a tad, just a tiny tad, uneven from the press but it worked just fine. Using an in door grill pan is a skill that takes time to develop. I like the challenge not using all the electric gadgets like an electric panini grill etc. I'm pleased with this purchase!

This press works outstanding with my 11" grill pan. Although it does not extend all the way to the inside edges of the pan, the weight it excellent, and not too heavy to handle. But I also use it in my round large pans too! I love the knob which makes it so convenient to lift the press without burning your fingers. I sprayed a light amount of olive oil spray for flavor to the inside of the lid, and it worked perfectly with the seared grill marks! I also use it for bacon, burgers, and grilled veggies! Easy to clean, just wipe with lightly dampened paper towel. Not suggested to wash with soap and water--this would prevent tempering the cast iron. It is not the heavy cast iron like your grandmother's pan. A lighter version, but very workable. And so much less expensive that those name kitchen stores in the malls. Came in a few days, much sooner than expected! A great find purchased on Amazon.com!

I bought this to use with a Le Creuset enameled cast iron grill pan, 10-1/4 inch square. First the good news: it fits perfectly, it cost a fraction of the Le Creuset press which is around $70, it's heavy and it does the job. Preheating it for a few minutes directly on my gas stove provided nice grill marks on some sausages we grilled. Now the bad news: I seriously doubt that it is truly "enameled" cast iron. It looks no different from old fashioned cast iron, say, made by Lodge. In fact the box mine came in makes no claim to have an enamel coating. I suspect it does have a spray coating of vegetable oil to "preseason" it. The Le Creuset grill pans and presses truly are enameled cast iron. You can see the difference if you compare them side by side. Why does this make a difference? The way they explained it to me at Williams-Sonoma, the enamel gives you the best of both worlds -- great heat retention from the cast iron with the easy clean-up of glass/enamel. They told me that because of the enamel the Le Creuset grill pan and press are dishwasher safe, though this is not recommended. The Norpro press must be hand washed and dried. Finally, my press came in a torn, broken box with no instructions, just a small slip of paper with a total of two panini recipes -- one requiring 12 ounces of prosciutto -- no heating or cleaning directions to be found. I am going to keep this press, but I want others to be informed before purchasing.
