What is a Ball Joint?
- A ball joint is usually a ball-in socket design, lubricated with grease and covered with a dust boot
- Ball joints are the critical component of the suspension that connect various links and allow them to move
What do Ball Joints Consist of?
- Ball joints consist of a metal housing and stud
- The stud can swing and rotate within the housing
- The socket is filled with grease to provide lubrication, keep debris and water out of the socket, and maintain noise free operation
Symptoms of Worn Ball Joints
- Worn ball joints contribute to looseness in the suspension
- The driver may notice steering looseness, steering vibration, or unusual noises but it often causes other problems before it may be noticeable to the driver
- A worn ball joint is not a problem that should be ignored. If the wear becomes severe, the stud may separate from the housing resulting in immediate loss of control of your vehicle which puts you in great danger

The Niche aftermarket part was half the price of the OEM Arctic Cat part. Time will tell the quality of replacement ball joint. Part fit as described.

I installed (2) of these on the right side of my 98 AC 400 and they are nicely made. They fit nice and tight. My wheeler has 8999 miles on it. I tried adding photos but it's not working.

Ordered 2 for upper ball joint replacement on a 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS ATV. The OEM parts miked up to a spot-on 1.125" on the mount. These new parts had a much rougher finish and measured between 1.127 and 1.129". Even after rust and adhesive cleanup on the A-arms, these parts needed sanding or light grinding in order to achieve a light press fit. However, these are much better than the other Chinese knurled parts that require a more aggressive press fit. Recommended with qualifications.
