About this item

  • Eliminates the huge swings in coolant pressure that plague lesser thermostats at high RPM
  • Fully compatible with GMs Fords and AMCs
  • Opens at 180 degrees regardless of engine rpm
  • High flow design with brass and copper construction
  • Eliminates the damaging effects of cycling when you're stuck in stop and go traffic

Mr. Gasket High Performance Thermostats eliminate the huge swings in coolant pressure that plague lesser thermostats at high rpm, when coolant temperature and pressure can battle for control of the thermostat and prevent it from opening at the designated temperature. Fully compatible with GMs, Fords, and AMCs, they open at 180 degrees every time, regardless of engine rpm, and their high-flow design and brass and copper construction eliminate the damaging effects of cycling when you're stuck in stop-and-go traffic.

180' stat. Wouldn't work in vehicle. Overheated in a short time. Removed it from engine, Did the heated water test with accurate cooking thermometer. No movement at the following temps. 140, 150, 160, 170, 18O, 190,200, 210, BOILING! no movement finally after 30 or so seconds of boding water it started opening. Further tests after that seemed to open at 180' normally. Would never re-install the thing.,

Used this w/ the Mr. Gasket reusable thermostat housing gasket on SBF. Straight forward install, no issues. High flow, 180 degree thermostat. Works as advertised, the water temp gauge showed about 180 degrees, then dropped to 170 for a moment, which told me the thermostat opened up.

I bought this for my Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.9L (MOPAR 360). This doesn't fit, however, I did bench test it and it works great. Wish it had fit.

I like the fact that you will get more water flow to keep engine cooler

This fit my '63 MGB and does a good job, opening at exactly the correct temperature and holding the engine coolant at that temperature even when ambient temps drop, as verified by a calibrated gauge.

No , not at all with this little jewel. I couldn't find a thermostat that I liked, and after reading up and doing my homework decided to put one of these in my 1972 Jeep CJ5 after my brand new Stant thermostat failed to open. This engine has a fresh top end and I really do not want to burn it up. It is made of all brass construction, and just not thrown together, so I was very pleased to drop it in my manifold, along with a fresh housing. Thank you to the folks at Mr. Gasket for making a nice part to keep my cool with.

Excellent in all respects. I have been having some issues with a 1969 Ford 428 Cobra Jet engine maintaining a constant temp and hitting the high side of where it should be. Heavy loads would pull from 195 -210 under load and then drop to 185 at idle with dual electric fans, (2000cfm x 2) - That is with a 180 Thermostat. This high flow t-stat holds a very constant 175-180% even under extreme loads. I will be able to balance a bit better with fan control adjustments. Nice not to have the variances of +/- 15 degrees and be on the hot side with convention t-stat.
