Protect your artworks and give them a stunning shimmer with Mont Marte Premium Iridescent Varnish!
All it takes is one coat to make your artworks shine (or more to increase the amount of shimmer). This varnish is suitable for acrylic paintings and fluid art.
Handy hints:
Use a dry, clean cloth to lightly remove any dust from the surface of your artwork before varnishing.
Lay the canvas horizontally and use a soft taklon brush to apply the varnish quickly.
Work from side to side and slightly overlap with the previous stroke as you work your way down the canvas.
Don’t use the brush over partially dry varnish because it can ruin the texture.
To increase the iridescent shimmer, use multiple coats of varnish (allow the previous layer to completely dry before applying another coat). You can apply up to 4 coats of varnish to achieve your desired effect.

Absolutely love it !!! It was exactly what I was looking for. I applied it on my Angel painting and it blew my mind how pretty it turned out. Didn’t expect such a beautiful result. I am so excited about it. All the different glitter colours. There is a lot of it if that’s what you are looking for. I wouldn’t apply it on every painting. I am intrigued to experiment with it. The video doesn’t show how it really looks like since the varnish reflects back and shines.As with varnish in genersl, one should use high quality acrylic. With less expensive ones with less pigments you run the risk of lifting off the colour with the varnish.

The photo of this product's effect is totally misleading. I have been restoring a large carved wooden fish and thought iridescence would be perfect to simulate the luminescence of a tarpon's body, but this product is nothing more than a clear sealant with small flakes of glitter in it. I am buffaloed by all the positive reviews, but most talk about shimmer & glitter, not iridescence. Iridescence means showing luminous colors that seem to change when seen from different angles, like the shifting colors of an opal, an oil slick, soap bubbles, even CDs. If that what you're looking for, look somewhere else.

As a varnish/top layer, adds a transparent iridescence. Can also be mixed and is more sparkly than an iridescent medium (compared to Liquitex), easier to use and less wasteful than glitter.

Note that the iridescence comes from glitter 0.1mm-0.2mm in diameter, which will disrupt the surface of the varnish even when poured. It's good for projects that are good with that, but I realized too late for my purposes that for the particular iridescence I was going for mica would be a better option (and more environmentally-friendly).

I didn't have a problem with it drying. I did 2 thin coats and was dry in a day and a half. Very delicate not overwhelming sparkles. I'll buy more.
