I almost pulled a trigger purchasing a brand new tub spout ($50+) but I'm glad I decided to try this. It popped right in place and it just worked as advertised! No more wasted water when showering! Thank you, Moen!

This repair kit Moen #101237 is supposed to fit the 3800 tub faucets. The plastic gate was too wide for my 3857. Fortunately, when I took it apart I found the rubber cup seal was worn. The cup included in 101257 kit fit my faucet

When my tub's shower diverter valve was leaking badly, my local plumber told me that it would be an expensive job to replace the spout. But when I found this great little item, it cost under $10 and I could easily install it myself in a matter of minutes, with no need to replace the spout or to mess with the pipes! How nice!

Bought to fix a leaky gate in an old moen spout and it works perfectly.

Bought this because my old diverter gate chipped from rough kids. I tried two Danco models that either were too small width-wise or too thick for my Moen bathtub faucet. This product fit and still let me use the old plunger on my faucet. Only complaint is the rubber is thin and my tub faucet leaks water with the shower on. However, it functionally works as needed. Will come back here when the part wears out again due to rough kids.

We have hard water. It causes problems whenever I have any plumbing repairs. When our upstairs bathtub spout leaked using the shower, I figured it would be an easy fix. I tried getting just the rubber washer, but couldn't find one. Then I found a Danco repair kit, but it didn't fit right. So I tried putting the washer from that one in the old plastic housing. It sort of worked better, but not quite. I looked at the inside of the spout to find pitting all around the opening. After taking a Dremel tool with a rotary bit on it, the leaking was somewhat better, but not quite. I ordered the Moen 101237 Moen Cup Seal & Diverter Gate with hopes it would fix the problem. When I took it apart this time, I used a paint stir stick with sand paper on to sand the spout smoother. The cup seal in this kit differs from the original as the back side (against the spout) is smooth faced. The original one has a lip on the outer edge. This one fit snug so I used some silicone on it. It works really well, shutting off about 95% of the water. I can live with a slight trickle. I would order again, but wish they would sell just the cup seal.

My Moen shower head wasn’t getting much water it was all draining through the tub part. Instead of paying for a plumber I googled the problem and I needed a new diverter gate. Very easy to remove and I compared to this one. Some have a different shape. This went in ways and now my shower works. Worth the money and didn’t have to pay for a plumber

Once the spout was removed, cleaned internally with super fine wet/dry sand paper, and the new diverter was installed, it's like I bought a new unit. Cheap fix and works great.

I recently purchased a house with a whistling Moen tub spout that leaked a good 20-30% of the water directly into the tub while the shower was engaged. This kit solved my issue in about 3 minutes:Make sure a stopper is in the tub to prevent anything going down the drain. Unscrew the Allen bolt* (5/32") slightly until the spout can be rotated easily. Turn it so the spout is visible. Use a small flat screw driver to separate the legs and pull the diverter out. Look at the surface with the hole on it. If there is a significant amount of mineral build-up you should remove the spout and use some CLR, Lime-a-way, or similar to remove it. You can also use a file or a combination of file/chemical to make it mate well. Now that it's clean simply replace the diverter and seal as instructed. Turn the shower on once, it will likely leak quite a bit. Turn the shower off and on and you should see minimal dripping if any. These types of diverters almost never seal 100% perfectly (no matter the brand/seal/condition) so don't be bummed if a cup or two of water comes out of the faucet during a typical shower.*If you do not have a bolt you have a screw-on type and this kit likely won't work for you.I looked up my spout and matched my 3800 series of spouts to this replacement for the... 3800 series of repair kits. Who would have thought??? The part marked "Moen 3800 tub spout cup and seal" would work with the correct spout!?!Now, look at the reviews about the "wrong size" and laugh.

The flap is the wrong size/shape for my spout, but the washer was the same as the old one, so replacing just the rubber washer did the trick. If you know it's this washer you're replacing, don't worry about the flap.Kinda a rip-off considering it's 0.0002 cents worth of material, but what can you do?
