I have two of these "Monticello" CA-4551 faucets that are both nearly 30 years old. Both still look new as the solid brass and thick chrome have held up well.When this plastic piece broke, I was happy to see Moen is still making the part. In fact, the replacement appears to be made of a more resilient (less brittle) plastic now, so this replacement may last more than the 30-year life of the original (though I won't be around to see it, lol). I can't complain about the 30-year life of the old one, but the fact that Moen has made the replacement better is commendable.As another reviewer mentioned, the screw should be installed just to where it "stops" with light pressure - do not add any additional torque. It has a bit of blue Loctite on it, so it will stay in without being super tight. If it is over-tightened, the handle will be difficult to turn.Moen's guarantee is hard to beat, and I could probably have called them for a free replacement. But I didn't want to wait for the slower shipping. The fact that Moen keeps producing parts for these really old faucets, so they can be repaired instead of replaced, is rare for manufacturers today -- so kudos to Moen!

Works great. One suggestion - don't overtighten the screw when you attach this part to the faucet body. If you do, it will lock the faucet body together to a point where it won't turn, and you won't be able to install it. Do not overtighten the screw (turn it lightly and stop as soon as you feel resistance) - and it will take you 5 mins to get this done.

I've replaced 2 of these in the past few years from original faucets in the bathrooms. The original plastic just breaks and makes the faucet unusable. These new ones are color coded but not reversible so if you need more than 1 cold or hot you need to order 2 kits. Likewise, you can try and get Moen to send you a free kit but when your tenant needs a faucet to work you don't want to wait on Moen to save $11.
