MERINO WOOL SOCKS
ABOUT US

ABOUT US

In 2002, Minus33 was created by textile engineers from L. W. Packard & Co. Inc. L. W. Packard has been involved in just about every aspect of the wool industry, and a proud family-owned business since 1916. In 1995, L.W. Packard was selected by Textile World magazine as one of the top ten textile plants in the world.

With so much of our family history rooted in the wool industry, combined with our genuine passion for the outdoors, it only made sense for Minus33 to emerge as a merino wool clothing brand. Minus33 began as a snowmobile brand, and quickly expanded to other outdoor markets, such as hiking, skiing, and hunting due the versatility of our product offering.

WHY MERINO WOOL?

MOISTURE WICKING

MOISTURE WICKING

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

INSULATES WHEN WET

INSULATES WHEN WET

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

UV PROTECTION

UV PROTECTION

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

RENEWABLE

RENEWABLE

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

The wool content has changed. These were amazing socks, I was buying them for years. It used to be 75% merino wool, now it is only 60% and feels kind of synthetic to touch. Still soft and stretchy enough but not as great as it used to be

These seemed like a good smart wool alternative when they were $9/pair. Price continued to creep and I ended up buying 6 pairs.I maybe jog 4miles/week and cycle through pairs... Wasn't til my toddler pointed to my feet saying "broken" that I noticed almost all the pairs had holes or were very close to having them.At any price, this is a waste of money as my smart wool socks are years older but not at all worn.

Fair price low cut wool socks . Spring, summer and fall early morning duck boots and rest of day runners. Good quality, keeps feet warm on cool mornings and not uncomfortable in hot weather.

I had to do a pretty thorough search to find these socks. When I started my wool sock journey I had originally purchased some very high quality socks that had only 41% wool in them. I work 12 hour shifts and they lasted about 8 hours before my feet felt soaked with sweat. Better than cotton or polyester socks but I thought I could do better. Started looking for the highest percentage wool socks I could find that were black, didn't look ridiculous, and were ankle socks. Came across these 75% wool socks and I am super glad I purchased them. Feet feel faaaantastic!!! Very soft and comfortable and by 8 hours into my shift I barely feel like I need to kick off my shoes to air out my feet but if I do my feet are completely wicked dry within a couple minutes. That would never happen with cotton or my lesser percentage wool socks. Such a dream. Now on the sizing. I wear size 11 and the size chart says I am a large. When wearing the large they came midway to my malleolus. Perfect for hiking shoes which is basically what they are advertised for. However, I wanted more of a true no show look because I wear running shoes so I took a gamble on the mediums and hit the jackpot as they fit close enough for me to a true athletic style no show sock. Hope this helps you on your sock journey. Minus33 sells six packs on their website if you need bulk. After buying my test run here on Amazon I bought four six packs.

I like these. I ordered large for my U.S. size 11D feet and these just fit with a good stretch prior to putting on. They are medium weight socks. I ordered 2 pair for a test, I've worn them about 10 times for summer mountain biking. I've worn wool 4 season for all but cycling, wool is cool in summer and warm in winter -- controlling sweat is key to comfort. These are much cooler than synthetic socks of any weight, they're great wicking and fast drying. I have issues with nerve pain, that gets worse when my feet sweat and can't dry. These are much better than any synthetic, cotton or cotton blend I've tried. I've hand washed in cold water and allowed them to dry naturally every time. I don't have hopes they'll last more than 1 summer season, washing by hand gives one a good sense of how clothes are holding up and these are wearing a little fast. Still much better than average.

Wool socks. You think: Hot, itchy, and probably really uncomfortable right? Nope. It's quite the opposite in fact - these socks keep your feet dry without compromising comfort. They're not hot or itchy - probably the best pair of socks I own.I'm not paid by Minus33 (wish I was though) either. I own these pair and a pair of Cloudline(s) (also marino wool). These are less expensive but a bit thicker (not a negative though). These socks are like great slippers. I have nothing negative to say about either Minus33 or Cloudline socks. Get a pair of wool socks - ditch your cotton socks (use them for dusting or whatever).

Admirable quality. Comfy. And fluffy! Not as in loose wool strands, as in a thicker-than-expected weave.

I wear a womens 9.5 and got the medium. It felt great on but whenever I took off my shoes my socks fell off. After washing and drying on low heat they had shrunk and fit great! If I wear a boot they do still fall of when I remove my boot, but stay on when I take off my shoes. A small might have fit better but after the dryer the mediums fit perfect. The socks feel very soft and comfy. Would definitely buy again. I can`t say how well they last since have only had them for a week. But be advised these do shrink some in the dryer even though it does say you can do this. If these wear well I will definitely be buying more.Update: I’ve had these socks for a couple yrs and I still love them. I’ve seen some of the reviews that say theirs have holes and I must say that mine have not gotten any holes so far. I wear them at least 2x per week fall thru spring and once in a while during the summer. They have held up wonderfully! Will definitely buy again. Only have 5 pr and would like 7.

As someone whose feet are always slightly sweating when wearing footwear, no matter what the temperature (even at -50 °C). I was drawn to these after having read that merino wool will keep you warm when wet and it has natural anti-bacterial properties. I purchased the X-Large size.Pros:Thin and light, noticeably warmer than cotton socks that are thicker than these. (You won't overheat though. I wore these during the summer and they just felt warm, without making my feet hotter than if I had on cotton socks).Soft. Really soft. They don't feel soft when you handle them. But it's like walking on a warm cloud.I guess the anti-Bacterial claim is true, since I personally notice less odour after use.Cons (neither are really cons, just worth noting):As you can see in the photo, one sock is around an inch higher around the ankle when worn. (stopped noticing after wearing them for a few minutes). No "Left or "Right" sock. Both are the same with the venting being on the left side.Neutral: You can go skating in these, this applies to all wool socks though. (Keep this in mind. I forgot and just about did a full splits for the first time in over a decade... NOT FUN :D ).Update: Wore a hole through the heel of one of the socks. I do wear my shoes lightly laced, so I can easily slip them on and off. Because of that; my heels rub vertically along the inside of the shoe, abrading the socks. If you wear your footwear properly, you won't have to worry about this. 59 days of use before wearing through is a lot longer than than the 2 week average I'm used to - with cotton socks.I still recommend these socks, the above information was just to relay what kind of wear resistance these have when abused outside of proper careusage.

I love these socks because they are low-cut and have a higher percentage of merino wool than others. These are very warm even in the cold and they don't get hot/sweaty/smelly like nylon or cotton socks. They usually don't smell after 3 uses if you air them out...but then after I recommend hand washing them or putting them in the washer on low and always let them air dry and never put them in the dryer. I wear a size 8.5 mens and I ordered the medium and they fit perfect. Not too snug, not too loose. I highly recommend these socks.
