This is hot swappable and works well just be aware sometime it may not read the drive and you have to disconnect and leave it along for a little then it will ready and doesn't happen alot but does happen the one moth I've had it, it only did that twice. Other than that it was a great price for what I needed it for love the LED lights and a bit heavy so you know its a good quality. Recommend this product.

On Windows 11 it required no driver install. Clicking in an SSD and I was accessing the drive in seconds. I opt to unplug the dock before adding or removing drives but I am uncertain if it is required, it just seems safer that way. The pressure required to seat the drive is fairly high but it assures a good connection. Drives stand straight up so convection cooling is decent. Under heavy load, like a full drive erasure, drives generate enough heat to cause thermal throttle so I use a tiny 30mm USB fan to bring temps back down to nominal. Tested with SATA and NVMe drives and speeds were maxed for SATA and I was able to do about 850Mbps read and 750Mbps write on a 970 EVO Plus. My other dock can push about 10% higher throughput but it requires external power so it is not as convenient and it cost 8x as much.

Works just fine on my windows 10 setup, tried it with two separate NVME drives I have laying around at the moment, both read just fine.

Unit appears excellent. Nice colors, small, non slip bottom. Was very happy upon initial look thought it would be 4 starThen this little annoying thing happened. Windows refused to install it and device manager complained had unrecognized hardware description id.Tried 3 different usb ports, 4 different SSDs and 2 pcsThis thing was a 6 hour waste of my time. Now i have to spend more time returning it and another 2 days waiting for replacementHow hard would it have been for them to test it before shipping itComplete turd

I've been working with a UGREEN NVMe enclosure the past couple for the occasional format job or OS install or boot and more recently as network cloud storage. Unfortunately this little thing has caused me enough grief to want to another one, to at least see if this thing is underperforming. Well, after only a few hours of using the Amzpilot I can tell you it's faster than the UGREEN in transferring files and noticeably more responsive thru the network. Also, I've had a troubled 500GB Gen4 NVMe drive that has given me some weird issues on different devices but it passes diagnostics / error checks so I haven't been wanting to throw it away just yet...and although I can 'quick format' it no problem it always fails on a full format. Now, with this Amzpilot it completes a full format with no error or interruption!Lastly, the UGREEN didn't really seem to have a rhyme or reason as to when it would show up as a storage device and when it wouldn't up in the devices list because it was read as a large SCSI drive without a drive letter. So far with this Amzpilot I haven't had that issue. Each system I've plugged it into has read it with a drive letter and has allowed me to explore it's directories, no problem. For $20+ I'm pretty satisfied with this thing. And it looks nice with the RGB sitting next to the router. Makes the table it's sitting on a little bit more presentable in the room.

After using the Sabrent M.2 SSD enclosure for several years, the enclosure gets very hot. Additionally, no matter what drive you put in the Sabrent enclosure such as Samsung 980, Intel 660P or Western Digital 850X they all show as "Sabrent". This becomes a real issue as you cannot use any of the proprietary software that comes with each of these drives such as Western Digital Dashboard, Samsung Magician or the Solidigm Software for Intel drives.Well, see the attached 3 images..not only does the Pilot show the correct drive as well as the Western Digital Dashboard but this drive has a Heat Sink. Additionally, the drive is running nice n cool at 104 degrees Fahrenheit unlike the Sabrent which is an enclosed oven and almost too hot to touch. Also the Sabrent does not allow for drives with a Heat Sink attached. My only issue with the AMZ Pilot is that I am unable to update the firmware with this docking station. I've tried installing the firmware file and the auto update procedure, both failed. WD support is sending a knowledge base article to get around this specific issue. Overall, very pleased..Sabrent has some homework to do.
