Update! If you have the issue with the coupler not fitting your throttle body (95-96 trucks), call K&N and speak to a tech service rep. You need K&N part #08421. This is a 3.0" to 2.75" hump coupler.Good quality filter and heat shield, cheap-ish quality plastic intake tube. This kit DOES NOT fit a 1996 Tacoma with a 2.4L engine. As others found the silicone coupler is too large at 3.0", and the throttle body is 2.75" diameter.

Terrible product have been trying to use for months now but it keeps on melting the bad plastic tubing. I asked for a metal one or a refund and seller wont help with either. Have tried to make it work. really used to have all faith in all the K&N products ive bought for other cars but this one did more than disappoint me. do not buy

I just installed this kit on my '98 Toyota Tacoma, 2.4L, DLX, RWD, Manual, 228,000 miles. It will be a little early to comment on the mpg and overall performance. I'll have to concur on the current reviews that you can definitely hear the difference on first startup after install with the whir of air getting sucked in. With the increased air flow, my stock exhaust is sounding a lot louder between 2100 -2800 rpms, since all that air has to exit too. Throttle response has improved just like all the reviewers have posted so far. I am having a lot of fun testing this part out, so I'm lead footing it a bit.I read the reviews on this page before my purchase and I was worried that I may get another kit where the rubber coupling from intake to throttle body would be too big. Well... the stock throttle body is about 2.75 inches, and the K&N coupling is 3 inches on both sides, so it did turn out too big as several reviewers have posted. I ran to Autozone, and picked up a 3 inch to 2.5 inch Spectre reducer coupler for about $7-8. On the 2.5 inch side, don't use the adjustable fastener ring from Spectre, it will be too tight. Swap it out with the 3 inch ring that came in the K&N kit. With the 1/4 inch difference you should be able to stretch and massage the coupler onto the throttle body, and tighten everything up. I wasn't able to reuse my stock coupler as it was a bit old, and I tore it after pulling too hard.Aside from the coupler, everything else fit into place. It would have been 5 stars, if K&N included the right coupling size in the kit.

I really love the sound of this intake on my 1998 Toyota Tacoma 2.4. When you first start it up you can just hear just what a difference this intake makes compared to the factory air intake. As this kit replaces the old restricted air filter box with a conical filter that comes with a larger intake tube that unlocks horsepower as well as giving you more mpg's which equals to more money in your pocket. I got an increase of about 4 hp and at least 2-3mpg which is good considering the price of gas. All in all this is a good investment for those want more power and also for those who want better gas mileage out of your truck.
