IDC®Powair harness - Designed for 100% airflow

The IDC®Powair harness is one of JULIUS-K9®'s novelties, that serves as a super light, extremely soft version of the IDC®Powerharness. It is made from a special 3D mesh fabric that ventilates extremely well and provides a comfortable fit for your dog.

Efficient power transmission, efficient control

We have optimized the IDC®Powair harness for the power directed at the dog. It's chest strap is parallel to the leash in your hand; therefore, it can transmit the power arriving from you in the most efficient manner. This means that you can hold back or stop your dog when you need to with less effort. The wide chest strap and the optional chest pad help distribute the power over the chest for the proper comfort of your pet.

Heavy-duty handle to handle the unexpected

The handle atop the harness allows you to control your dog with confidence – to stop her or guide her moves on the streets, up or down the steps, or when getting out of the car.

One-click fit for daily use

To make your bustling days go smooth, the harness can be fitted in a single move.

  • 3D-textile layers for 100% airflow
  • Scientifically proven comfort; the structure evenly distributes the power to the chest instead of the neck
  • Exceptionally simple to fit and use
  • OEKO-TEX® certified, tested inner lining
  • Customizable with interchangeable hook and loop patches
  • Sturdy handle
  • Over 25 years of experience in dog harness development

What to do if the dog wriggles out of the harness

The JULIUS-K9® chest harnesses have been designed for ease of use and for simple application. These types of harnesses are therefore most commonly used during city walks or when working with service dogs. As a result of improper leash use, sizing, or harness adjustment, some dogs can still wriggle out of the harness.

If the leash is inadvertently pulled in the opposite direction to how the harness was put on, the harness might be pulled off the dog. This can happen if

  • the harness is adjusted too loosely,
  • the dog starts moving backwards trying to run away.
  • the dog lags behind and is being pulled by the leash

ATTENTION:

Dog harnesses are designed to guide the dog in a gentle, neck-sparing way on the leash, to hold the dog, and to make it possible for the owner to hold it back in case of an emergency. A dog harness is not a coercive tool! When facing the dog, do not pull the leash towards you and never pull the dog after you on a leash because it will hurt them. Improper leash treatment can cause the dog to try to escape. The owner would be responsible for the dog pulling loose from the harness should this happen.

How to safely walk your dog in a harness

If the dog is prone to panic or feels insecure near traffic, it is recommended to use the handle on the top of the harness to help the dog.

It is also a good idea to use the collar and dog harness together with a double carabiner leash while walking. In this way, the dog can be led safely with one hand and the collar does not overload the dog’s neck if it needs to be held back suddenly. The Y-belt or pressure distribution pad, hich can be retrofitted to the harness, also allows the harness to rest securely and comfortably.

How to adjust the dog harness

Proper sizing and adjustment is essential for any type of harness. Before using the harness for the first time, it is very important to read the instructions carefully and to follow them. In the case of chest harnesses, adjust the girth strap of the harness so that only your palms can be slid between the inner lining of the harness and the back of the dog. The chest strap should allow four fingers to fit in between the dog’s front leg and the girth strap. Harnesses that are set too loose can be dangerous because the dog can get out of them, but overly tightening harnesses should also be avoided.

How to correctly walk your dog on a leash

When walking, the leash should always be loose, and only held tightly when there is a good reason, for example if you are forced to stop the dog suddenly due to a traffic situation. If the dog is scared, panics, or is just unwilling to move on, under no circumstances should you try to go any further and pull. If possible, keep the leash loose, but keep it short and try to get hold of the harness handle by getting behind the dog.

Getting certain dogs used to a harness can be difficult in some rare cases. In cases like these we recommend seeking help from a professional dog handler who works with positive reinforcement.

I bought these for my two male Shiba Inu, they both weigh around 22 lbs so I bought the Small/Mini. They also have the Ruff Wear Front Range, which is a wonderful harness too, but they really don't like how it fits so closely over their heads. They always duck and weave when I have to put it on them. I introduced them to the Julius K9 IDC harness and WOW! What a game changer! Now they sit patiently smiling and let me slip this harness on. It is so fast and easy I am just shocked and happy how easy it is to put on and off. And it looks super cute on them too! I also tried the Joy Ride Harness on them and they hated it. It is not comfortable at all. The straps are scratchy and the belly buckle is huge and rubs them directly on the back of their front legs! Joy Ride harnesses come in a lot more pretty colors but the quality of their product is awful! I returned the Joy Ride Harnesses. I really wish Julius K9 harnesses came in as many colors as the Joy Ride does. That said, I highly recommend the Julius K9 harness if you have a Shiba Inu. Another great harness that my male Shiba Inu love is the Comfort Flex Harness. They sit patiently smiling when I put the Comfort Flex Harness on them too!I also have a female Shiba Inu and she is a classic escape artist and I keep her in the Ruff Wear Front Range.

Love the Julius K9 harnesses. I've had foster pugs from 17 to 30# and the ALL wear the SAME SIZE! That's how adjustable these are.I also love that the hardware is sized appropriately for the size of the harness (unlike Joyride harnesses where the hardware is laughably large compared to the size of the harness). Finally, the Velcro patches are customizable, another pro! I love the reflective kind.

Superb Quality - very comfortable for dog easy to put on and take off - love that the fabric is breathable & the fastening clip is easy to operate. Also the lead attachment ring is not metal - this makes for ease of clipping on the leash and also there is no metal clinking. I like that there is a matching leash available too. My Shih - Tzu looks super smart!

I've tried three of this style harness now and this is by far the best fit for my 19lb cavalier. Fit is secure without sliding out of place. Noticed the metal ring to clip the leash is now plastic, hopefully this holds up over time given the cost.

never have liked harnesses much because they are too difficult for a simpleton like me. This one is easy on easy off. size chart seems accurate but I had to google some of the dogs on there as sheltie and collie were not listed. Fits my dogs well and I like that it has a handle on it

Fits good, super easy to put on, it is for a 17lb pug which is notorious for slipping out if they pull backwards on the harness, mine has done this on the last 3 harnesses, I think it's because of their build and not the harness.
