Exactly what you will need to tighten up the steering on your Scotts or John Deere. Make sure of the right part number from John Deere Parts Catalog. Don't fall for those You Tube video that show you to take the whole thing apart. Study it and work from the bottom to remove pinion gear, careful to remove clips and pins and move steering shaft up only as far as needed to insert bushing. Viola!

The John Deere rear engine rider series, among other problems, have a problem with hard steering over rough terrain. This bushing, installed with the steering gear, helps restore easier steering.

An original OEM John Deere part. Exactly what the parts manual called for and my mower is steerable again. I am a happy camper. Would have given five starts but hey, it's a lawn mower part.
