The JEBAO SK-50 Pond Skimmer effectively removes leaves and debris from the pond surface. This helps prevent murky pond water and keeps debris out of the filter system. It removes debris that floats on the water surface of the pond. Dust, leaves, or other pollutants result in pond water becoming saturated with excess external nutrients, it becomes murky, and green water starts to form.

Great looking skimmer! Easy installation. Only small gripe I have is the koi love to mess with it!

This skimmer is great and functions as advertised in my 2500 gallon pond. The pond is shallow at around 20” around the edges and the bottom has a slight slope. I wish I discovered this skimmer 3 years ago when I started my Pond adventure. One modification I recommend to those with a lot of algae. On the first couple of days, I was using this skimmer, the skimmer sponge would clog within half a day from all the algae, stopping the water flow. To resolve this I cut out a 2 inch donut hole in the middle of the sponge. The sponge still collects the algae, but it no longer stops the water flow. The water does slow down, I clean the sponge every day. If you have a mostly algae free pond this unit is practically maintenance free as it has a pretty large basket.Edit: Been using the skimmer for 3 weeks. It’s totally awesome. One edit from my review above: The micro debris sponge is not needed. I tried cutting a donut whole but it still slows down the pond recirculation to the point of a trickle. In response to this I removed the sponge completely. Now the skimmer works perfect. It still collects the algae in the basket thanks to the other large debris but it did not slow down more than 25% when full due to the large surface area of the collection basket. It acts much more similar now to a pool skimmer. One other item I should mention that I didn’t mention in my original review. You may find when you first hook up the skimmer or when you’re doing maintenance where you need to disconnect the skimmer from the pump, the pump is not drawing any water from the skimmer. The system needs to be primed, meaning that the tube that leads to the skimmer that is underwater needs to be fully filled with water with no air bubbles. To accomplish this I attached a connector immediately after the pump. When I start the pump I let the pump run not connected to the waterfall, letting the water just flow back into the pond. This seems to clear the air bubbles in the pipe. The issue is not pumping water, it’s pumping water uphill to the waterfall. After you let the pump run for 30 seconds then turn off the pump and reconnect to the rest of the system. It should start flowing normal at that point.
