Our company, Noguchi Kumataro Tea Garden (Noguchitokutarosyoten Co., Ltd.), was founded in 1874 in Sashima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture by Kumataro Noguchi, the first generation of tea growers, and we are now in our fifth generation.
Sashima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture, has long flourished as a tea production area in the northern part of Japan, and its tea is now called Sashima-cha. Sashima-cha became the first Japanese tea exported to the United States in 1859 through negotiations with Townsend Harris, the first U.S. Consul General in Japan.
We will create a new tea culture while carefully preserving the traditions and techniques that have been cultivated over five generations.

I’m particularly happy with how this tea canister keeps my loose tea fresh. Being as how I import my teas from China and India, I am very concerned about ensuring that the teas remain fresh. Given that this canister seals so well, my tea remains fresh from beginning to end.Of course, given that the design of the canister, is so pleasant on the outside, that adds to why I am so happy with this tea canister.
