I installed the water pump and the engine overheats at times and the heater comes on cold and it makes an abnormal sound

I installed this a few weeks back, followed online directions, torqued the bolts to spec and everything. Within a day it was leaking from the gasket surface on the back of the pump. I pulled the pump and found there was machining imperfections on the gasket surface. I measured tool marks and they were between .003" and .006" ridges. I held a straight edge on the area and you could see light under it. I ended up buying new gaskets and sanding down the surface a bit to reuse the pump as I didn't have the luxury to sit and wait for a replacement. Check the surfaces before installing yours so you don't have go through the trouble that I did, or just buy from another seller and save yourself the hassle.

Installed pump, neck is a straight neck not a angled neck for the escalade. However it does work.Installed, filled with coolant and immediately fluid rushed out of the thermostat housing. Tried to tighten it up and immediately the bolt snapped.I replaced the seal with a felpro thermostat seal and used the bolts off of my old water pump and no leaks.The bolts they use for the thermostat housing are longer than factory and the used is just slightly thinner than a felpro, so not sure which portion actually fixed the problem, but with factory bolts and a felpro thermostat seal everything seems to be in order.Now to go buy another 2 gallons of coolant since I lost most of it fixing this.
