I always keep one of these filters on my lenses to protect from anything coming in contact with the glass. These filters are fairly priced and are of a good quality.

Over the decades I have always protected my lens with Hoya filters. Back in college I worked in a camera store and sold Hoya filters. Some of my customers would come in and thank me for selling them the filter’s because it saved their expensive lens from destruction. I could see firsthand how the metal ring took the brunt of the impact.

Only problem is that it doesn't have as many coatings as the more expensive ones.

This filter works wonderfully and is cheap insurance to help protect your expensive lens. I never use a lens without having one of these on it.

Got this instead of the expensive B+W filter. I've noticed with my B+W filters that the coating they use on them gets easily scratched. It doesn't make sense for me to spend all that money, and have it get scratched, so I wanted something that was good, but still disposable if something happens. I cannot tell the difference in my images between the two filters, and I'm pretty fanatical.
