Functionality:
1. Passwordless Authentication and MFA based on FIDO2 and U2F standards. The key is connected to your computer or smartphone via Bluetooth, NFC, or micro-USB connection. You can use it with as many Windows, Linux, or Android devices as you wish and add it as a primary authentication method to websites supporting passwordless authentication. 2.Password manager, OTP generator, and smart login/logout functionality is only compatible with Windows 10 ver. 1903 (2019) or later. The user has to install a free Hideez Client software, which allows importing their data from a CSV file, managing their credentials, enabling one-time password generation, adjusting proximity login/logout settings and configuring the device's response to single and multiple button-presses and hotkeys for specific actions.
3. Hideez Key can serve as an electronic key for home, office or gym, etc. Using the RFID features does not require additional software. The device has a built-in RFID module that works on the 125 kHz frequency bandwidth. You may ask authorized locksmith service to clone your exiting key fob on Hideez Key and use it for your RFID-enabled door system. Please note that the Hideez Key can store only one RFID code at a time.
The Hideez Key 4 is also ideal for two-factor authentication (2FA) and multi-factor authentication (MFA). You can use it as a primary or secondary authentication method to websites and apps supporting FIDO2 and U2F standards. The device is FIDO2 & U2F certified.
The device is rechargeable via a micro-USB port, and its battery life can last up to 6 months. If you are using the Hideez Key 4 with a Windows computer that lacks Bluetooth, you can purchase a bundle that includes the Hideez USB Bluetooth dongle.

Their product does not work. The previous version could function barely with a battery. When they moved to rechargeable battery, their battery cannot be charged.

I just plugged it into my Mac or another device, clicked the blinking USB icon, and I was all set. After entering the passwords, it became very secure and straightforward to configure. I find it extremely convenient.

First off, I couldnt get mine to work with the client software and finding the software was harder than it needed to be. Their website tries to get you to buy the enterprise version instead of listing the free version.Second which is the worst- in their privacy statement they list the things they will collect from you. This includes such things as-Locations- addressesWebsites visitedPhone NumbersIP addressesAnd worse- Passwords!So you agree to give these people everything you WANT to keep secure. There is a reason services like LastPass dont collect or even store your passwords, if they have access to it, anyone who hacks them would. Stay away from this product and company until they do better.(Note- most of that collection data is based on the phone apps)UPDATE: After actually getting this thing to work with a week of going back and forth with support (which are very friendly), another major flaw cropped up. Battery life. This device says it can last up to 6 months according to the manual but it doesnt last even 3 days.

Nachdem ich dem Hideez Key 4 eine zweite Chance gegeben habe, musste ich leider erneut feststellen, dass das Produkt in der Praxis nicht das hält, was es verspricht. Obwohl die Idee eines FIDO2/U2F-zertifizierten Sicherheitsschlüssels für passwortlose Authentifizierung ansprechend klingt, konnte mich die Ausführung auch diesmal nicht überzeugen.Verbindung und Stabilität:Die Verbindung des Hideez Key 4 ist leider nicht stabil genug, um im Alltag zuverlässig zu funktionieren. Nach einer neuen Verbindung funktioniert der Schlüssel in der Regel für kurze Zeit, aber spätestens am nächsten Tag treten wieder Probleme auf. Das Sperren und Entsperren des PCs wird dann mehr zu einer Frage des Zufalls, was bei einem Sicherheitsschlüssel, der für den Schutz sensibler Daten verantwortlich ist, natürlich inakzeptabel ist.Benutzererfahrung:Die Benutzererfahrung bleibt weit hinter den Erwartungen zurück. Es ist frustrierend, wenn die Funktionalität unzuverlässig ist und man sich darauf nicht verlassen kann. Gerade bei einem Produkt, das für sicherheitsrelevante Aufgaben wie die Authentifizierung ohne Passwörter konzipiert ist, erwarte ich deutlich mehr Stabilität und Verlässlichkeit.Preis-Leistung:Für den Preis, den der Hideez Key 4 kostet, hätte ich eine deutlich bessere Performance erwartet. Die Idee hinter dem Produkt ist zwar gut und zeitgemäß, aber die Ausführung lässt viel Raum für Verbesserungen. Die Unzuverlässigkeit in der Verbindung und Funktionalität machen das Gerät leider zu einer enttäuschenden Investition.Fazit:Der Hideez Key 4 hat großes Potenzial, insbesondere in der aktuellen Zeit, in der passwortlose Authentifizierung immer wichtiger wird. Leider reicht die aktuelle Ausführung nicht aus, um die Versprechungen zu erfüllen. Für den Preis erwarte ich mehr Zuverlässigkeit und eine stabilere Verbindung. Ich werde das Produkt daher nicht weiter verwenden und hoffe, dass zukünftige Versionen diese Schwachstellen beheben werden.

It exceeded my expectations when I purchased it to replace my previous. It seamlessly integrates with contemporary applications as well as older services that rely on passwords. The idea of versatility appeals to me, especially since this key functions as a password manager, OTP generator, and FIDO key simultaneously.

I have been working on trying to get this to work for almost 2 weeks. The company tech support has been trying to work with me but there is a 10 hour time difference. I sent in the log files 3 days ago and no response.After several emails and finally google meet session, tech support found the issue. Now that it works it's I need to give a two 👍 up to the technical support team.

Hideez key is a pretty cool invention. I first found it when I was looking for cold storage crypto wallet. It turned out that the keys' primary function is to store your passwords and authenticate you into sites and apps without having to resort to software password managers. Similarly to cold crypto wallets, it makes a lot of sense if you don't trust your PC to remain malware free.The cool thing about Hideez is it has many tricks up its sleeve - 1) it can store both logins and passwords on the key itself, 2) it can act as one-time-password (OTP) generator, so you don't have to resort to phone-based code generators, 3) it supports FIDO WebAuthn standard (many people know it as "Yubikey".Even cooler the device works wirelessly (over bluetooth) and they have now added NFC and made it rechargeable, where's before you had to swap out the battery - which is why I purchased this new version.Doing more reading on their web site, it sounds like they are focusing on the corporate version of the key, which allows corporate users to get rid of having to remember and reset passwords every 90 days (shoot me now) - I wish my company would make use of it!All in all, if you're into secure and passwordless authentication, I highly recommend it - I think a product like this is very underrated and is the future.

Petit feedback sur le produit. J'ai acheté cette clé récemment, j'avais besoin de sécuriser mon ordinateur d'une manière simple et efficace. Du coup il est possible de verrouiller et de déverrouiller son appareil à proximité en s'approchant et en s'éloignant.Je l'emploie également comme deuxième facteur à la place de Google authenticator. Pour se connecter, j'ai juste besoin d'appuyer 3 fois sur le bouton. Je peux également gérer plusieurs mots de passe que j'utilise au quotidien.En ce qui concerne les instructions pour l'aide à l'installation, tout est clair. Je n'ai pas rencontrée de problèmes en particulier.Verdict, je recommande, on s'y habitue vite.

I think this is better use for enterprise scenario than personal.Under my expectation per price.1. Slow connection with PC built-in Bluetooth. Guess better work with bundled one.2. Password manager not better than browser default one.
