I have the Pitboss 1000d3 which is sold at most Tractor Supply stores. I had an issue with maintaining a consistent temperature.Everything I read indicated I needed a diffuser. My unit has a "diffuser" plate but it does not cover the top of the fire pot. I had to remove it and placed this diffuser over the top. It fits well enough to work for my needs but probably isn't specifically made for my pitboss model.Bottom line:This will fit the pitboss 1000d3 as long as you remove the plate the sits over your auger and around your fire pot. TEMPERATURE IS SPOT ON WITH IT. DEFINITE IMPROVEMENT!

I like products that show up and are exactly what the description says you will get. Looks good in the grill and hopefully will not rust like the one that came with the grill - but it shouldn't since it is made out of stainless steel.
