This item still tracks hours and rpm but is an eye sore on my brand new motor. I would not buy again

The batteries die quickly and Once dead the screws have to be drilled out to get at battery. There is a tinytac that does not need batteries., get that one. This one is not good.

Failed on me after 7.2hrs. Dirt bike with occasional spray down. Never even got dirty really. Screen went crazy/off.Great looking and functioned well but its a simple device...i shouldnt have had to even think about it, much less replace it at 7.2hrs.

I mounted this hour meter/tach to a 8 cylinder Mercruiser and it worked great. I mounted it next to the engine so that I can see the RPM when adjusting the carburetor. The tach is very accurate and verified mine with a light gun. This model can be configured to work with any cylinder engine. Buy it!

I purchased this to use on the outboard motor of my boat. Once installed and setup, it appears to work fine. For the price I paid I'm happy, but there are a few things that could be better:1) The wire that goes to the spark plug could be longer. I was hoping to mount the unit near the other gauges on my boat (which are not that far from the motor), but the length of the wire did not permit that. I was forced to mount the unit to the tiller handle of the motor.2) The instruction sheet that came with the unit was printed in text so small I needed a magnifying glass to read it. Fortunately the manufacturer makes the instructions available online and I was able to print off a copy with larger size text.3) This unit is supposed to work on most engine configurations, but for some reason the instructions do not indicate what setting is required for a 2 stroke 4 cylinder engine. I tried different settings and believe I have found the correct one, but it would be nice to know for sure.4) The menu button does not work very well, so I have to be very deliberate about pushing it completely to get it to work.Overall, a good value for the price, but it could be improved.

Replaceable battery is awesome. It has a per-trip counter that can be reset which is awesome, and total hours. Seems to be a good value. The mounting uses a different spacing of the two holes than I've seen on the more common meters, and the mounting is not through holes but rather threaded holes through which you screw in the supplied studs. The idea is the studs stick through something with the same hole pattern and the supplied nuts are then tightened on the ends of the studs. It would better if the holes were a common pattern to other meters and they were through holes. That is the only drawback I see. Another mounting option is with the two-sided foam tape that is also supplied, but that would cover up the battery compartment. The mounting seems to be not well thought out. That is a minor point but worth mentioning. I would buy this product again.
