Steps for using makeup 3-D gel:

  1. Heat the gel in hot water until it liquefies. (Test the temperature of the gelatin before starting application to the skin so you don’t get burned!)
  2. Apply the gel to your skin, it will cure to a rubbery consistency.
  3. Set with a setting powder then apply any type of makeup to complete the effect.
  4. Remove by peeling off and washing the skin with warm soap and water.

Tips

  • If the gel is still too solid, remove the cap and warm it for another 5-10 seconds.
  • Do not overheat the gel, as this can cause the formula to break and become unusable.
  • It's also possible to make teardrops or curved lines like swirls.

Bought this for my kids Halloween costumes, it was rock hard in the tube. Not even putting the tube in boiling water would loosen this stuff up at all. Don't waste the money. Opt for the more expensive one, and please people, read reviews. I've learned my lesson about not doing so. Had I read the reviews and saw the video, I would not have purchased.

First time using a scar gel or any sort of item for SFX makeup for The Bride of Frankenstein costume. Some of the other users stating the product doesn't come out of the tube didn't follow instructions - you either need to heat the whole tube in some hot water or microwave for about 8 - 10 seconds. I used a toothpick and spatula to apply. Once I got the hang of the consistency and how to manipulate it, it was fairly easy to use. I did have to reheat the product a couple times during the course of application. Once set, I was able to apply makeup directly over the product. The scar gel removed easily, unlike some of the other products people use to create SFX, based on my research. I didn't want anything that would harm my skin or cause reactions. The only downside is that about midway through my work day, parts of the created scar were starting to peel back from my face. I used lash glue as a quick fix to tack the pieces that became unattached from skin back on to get through the rest of the day, which held me over. The areas it was peeling is not a high oil area, and I did prep the skin the same prior to application. Interestingly, the area it peeled back had less makeup applied around/over the product than the areas that stayed in tact through the entire day. Overall, I'm pleased and would use it again if the need arose, but I don't know if I would recommend it for a look that you're trying to maintain for a long day.

It took me a while to have the opportunity to use this but I finally did on Halloween night. My son initially wanted to be something scary but when I applied to fake blood to him he thought it looked "too real" and he "didn't want to scare people" so I guess that is his review. The instructions were pretty straightforward, and when I got the fake blood on my hands to see what it was like, it felt a bit realistic. It cleans up very easily too. I am not sure if it stains, as I did not get it on any fabric.

It peels off easy. It does stink though. No one else said they could smell it but I absolutely could.
