It is strong and sturdy for my DIY and boat electrical projects. It does as described and expected.

They are kind of small and won’t cut anything larger the #8 copper.

Much more heavy duty than I thought. They have some serious weight and cutting power for their size. Fit great in the hand, and I'm left handed! To me, it's a great value for the price.

My wife and I are currently in the process of moving our Home Office into our shed to accommodate for our adult child to move back home for a little while. A major part of this is the fact that we need to rewire the shed to be able to accommodate for two desks 4 computers and a whole crapload of office supplies. The problem isn't as much capacity as it is that we need more plugs laid out throughout the shed before we put up the drywall. This week I started working on setting up the electric fuse box in preparation for getting the wire started and I thought that these would make a great accessory to the stuff that I already have for splicing out wire connections and getting things cut out to allow for expansion but you have to be ready to meet code. These snips work really well for wiring that is stranded and have heavy gauge insulation wrapping around the wire itself. The downside is that I'm trying to cut through 12 gauge solid core wiring which is what I need to ensure that we meet code standards here in Florida. I cannot tell you how many times this week that I have had it get through the installation, but yet alone not capable have slicing through the solid core wiring, but only bending it.Now I've tried adjusting the tension though to ensure that I had a tight fit however the problem still exasperates my ability to actually use it for this specific job. I don't know if it is just not built for this kind of job or if I have a defective unit, but when i looked at this unit the specifications should have easily been able to handle the wiring that I am using. I'm always spicing wire in one form or another especially when it comes down to setting up holiday lighting, And I'm sure that they will have their purpose. However, if this wasn't a vine purchase, i would more than likely have sent them back.

I have several other Hisstronica tools. Mostly crimpers, and have been completely happy with the quality and price. This tool is no exception. If you deal with larger cables this particular one is a really handy addition to your tool bag.Easily :A) Cuts cables up to 11mm in diameter.B) Severs and peels the cable skin.C) Strips 14, 16 and 18 awg wire.D) It is very lightweight. It has padded and spring loaded handles with a locking clasp to keep them closed.A nice little combo tool at a great price that does not take up much space in you bag.
