I wanted this for my acoustic guitar but a couple of things have come up;1) the spring-loaded pin you pull to release the lock is a little stiff so, after a few finger pinches (nothing serious), I started using two hands to get the strap off, which is pretty awkward. This might be just a matter of getting used to it but...2) the pin sticks out further than the original so when I'm playing solos up the neck, my wrist hits it. This isn't something I can live with. It would work on electrics where the strap button is on the upper part of the body, but I think on acoustics, the strap button is always on the bottom side of the neck. So unless you're willing to tap a new hole into your acoustic, this probably will get in your way if you play up the neck a lot.Unfortunately for me, the real area I have problems with the strap coming off is at the butt end of the guitar, but this lock won't work there without tapping a new hole in the guitar, and I'm not willing to do that. They (other vendors) make this same kind of lock that attaches to the jack so you can still plug your cord in, so I'm probably going to go for that.I do wish they would have provided some instructions with this since I didn't really know how it worked when I got it. I figured it out accidentally after trying various ways to tilt the connector, none of which worked. Maybe I looked back at the ad and saw something that made me pull up on the pin, I can't remember. That, along with an extra rubber washer, needs explanation. I put the washer between the guitar and the button, but I shouldn't have to guess about this.I think if I was designing this I would consider something more like the old one-handed socket wrench design Craftsman used to sell. On that, you could push a button and it would release the socket, and something like that would probably work better for this if it wasn't too bulky. Top thing is it can't get in my way while I'm playing. On the plus side, the screw they used on this one was a perfect replacement for my existing button's screw, so there was no risk of stripping out the old hole's grooves. Also, the strength of the materials and the price is good, 2 of these for the price of one of those other end-jack designs I mentioned. For those reasons, I bumped this up to 4 stars from 3.

I have other strap locks installed on another guitar that I've been using for years. When this pair came up, I thought this was a good opportunity to outfit my other guitars. They are very different from my previous ones. First of all, they did not come with any instructions so it took some time to figure them out. Secondly, they are much more difficult to operate compared to the smooth on/off in my other set. Finally, they are not interoperable with the other set I have so it will only work with these specific straps that they are installed on, not any other type.Overall, these are not the best option out there, but the pricing for two is good. Depends what you are looking for.
