This is a nice tool, a little lighter duty than the one I have but definitely not less of a tool.The paint is something else, but once you get through the thickness of that it works fine, but use a wire brush or something so you don’t lose grip on the wire.

This stretcher seems to be perfect so far. I have not been able to find a single thing about it that I don't like. It's price will scare some folks, because we know the others out there are more expensive. Don't let that be the case! This is also a good tool on top of being cheap!

Mechanically this works great. Built solid, good springs, easy to use ratchet mechanism BUT there is so much paint on the wire jaws that they can't grip properly, the wire just slides thru it.. After cleaning them up with a file it works great.

They are tough as nails and last literally forever. This one looks a little heavier and stronger than the old ones we have. The handle has two bars instead of the usual one. It has a rubber grip, and good strong springs to hold the gripper jaws in place. The jaw teeth are not as sharp and aggressive as they could be but they should work fine. The teeth can easily be sharpened with a file if needed. It has a good finish, and everything works as expected. The orange color should help to find it, if it gets left in the field. I am very pleased with this tool.

The instructions leave a little to be wanted. One things is that you need to switch the "traveling hook" to undo the tool from tension (make sure you've spliced your fence/wire first). Overall, this tool seems robust, and a must-have for any farm or homestead.
