I got this to see how it felt to write with something like this. It writes very smooth so I like it very much. My son had gotten one and would not let me try so I had to get one so I did.

This isn't a pen for writing letters. You could probably sign your name with it, if your name's not very long. None of the nibs hold enough ink to write more than "the quick brown" before you have to load it with ink again, which means you end up with an uneven, blotchy mess on the paper. It's not comfortable to hold, either. The structure that holds the nib can't be turned, so the nibs are oriented in a way that makes the metal decorations interfere with your hand. The little stand is pointless and doesn't fit the pen whether there's a nib in it or not. None of the nibs will let you do calligraphy, either, so don't get sucked into that. They're not calligraphy-capable. That requires a completely different kind of nib. I'm very sorry I bought this because I ended up throwing it away ten minutes after I opened the box.

A really good friend of mine is a writer. She has been published and I just think she is such a special friend. She had a book preview party when one of her books got published. I wanted to give her something special and I stumbled on this. She is Irish and the quill is green and I just thought it somehow fit. She loved it. She said she keeps it in her writing nook where she does most of her writing and it gives it that writer vibe. I was so happy that I touched my friend with this gift. I cannot say whether it is good for actual writing with or not. Probably. But as a symbolic gift, it scored a 100 for me.

I’ve always wanted one and my daughter picked this out for me for Christmas. The quality is exceptional! It is not some lightweight piece of junk that you’d expect for such a low price. This is a heavy duty, well crafted, beautiful piece that will last a long time. Make sure to watch some videos on how to start using these as there are certain steps you need to take to prep them. **You can’t just dip it in the ink and start writing. You have to get the layer of protective oil off of the tips first. I will be buying these for friends and relatives for birthday gifts as I’m learning that I’m not the only low key nerd that wishes they were born in another time. Since that can’t happen, I’ll just enjoy some fun little pieces of history.

This is an absolutely gorgeous steampunk quill and ink set. I was in awe and so excited when I opened the box. There are a variety of nibs that snugly slide into the quill and are held by a tension ring, no need to adjust. Included are a bottle of black ink and a bottle of blue ink. The holder is nice and sturdy and comes with a spot for the quill, but remove the nib first it will scrape on the bottom, and a tray for the ink bottle. This is not a fountain pen but rather a dip pen. You need to dip the nib of the quill into the bottle and then wipe off the excess for nearly every word you write. It is very attractive even if you don't want to use it aside from having a decorative element on your desk. I think this is a great set and I recommend it.

This feather pen is a really nice beginners kit for introduction to calligraphy. It includes two miniature ink bottles along with 4 tips, a miniature pen stand and you have the actual feather pen. It has a really nice design and it really puts you in the mood to relax and feel nostalgic. It works perfectly, however I believe my only concern would be you constantly have to dip the pen in the ink since it can’t really hold as much. A side note would be to use a multi-art card-stock paper since it does bleed through if you use regular printer paper. But other than that, it’s a really good product.
