Great kit, works excellent once installed and setup. Very easy to use and program, I only use the bottom 2 buttons, I haven't found a need for the 2 smaller ones and my hands aren't the most flexible.Install is definitely not for beginners, find someone that has experience soldering. A magnifying light is extremely helpful and just be patient. A lot of the solder points are very small and in tight spots so just take your time and be careful. Once your done they give you a small circuit board to test with. I had to tough up 3-4 points on the 2 controllers I did and they have worked perfect so far.Using this you get a reliable controller with back buttons for half the cost of a Scuf or Elite controller.

This kit turned out great once completed. It probably took me an hour total to get it all put together, and that was partially because I also changed out the buttons and faceplate at the same time, and forgot to put a piece back that required nearly full disassembly again.The kit is well designed. All of the electronic pieces are laid out so they kind of "self-align" where they need to go. Following the video online, it was a pretty easy job, though some of the solder joints are very small and close together. Take your time and pay attention to the directions and it will work fine. I also ended up taking the advice I saw from another reviewer where I had an LED test board that was falsely telling me one of the joints was bad. If that happens to you, use the board to diagnose which point, and just make sure it has a solid solder joint and then move on. I'd have spent a lot more time trying to diagnose something that wasn't bad if I hadn't read that other reviewer with the same problem.Once put together, the kit works great. I love being able to re-map buttons on the fly, though I do wish it had a memory with maybe 2 or 3 profiles to switch between for different games. But I have no complaints for the price and function. I'm very impressed with both this kit and the same company's controller shells and could easily see myself buying more of them to customize my other controllers in the future.

After a few hours of struggling with tight screws, tiny soldering points, and the overall hassle of working with this kit, I have finally added back buttons to a series X/S Xbox controller! I've always wanted a controller with back buttons, and wanted to challenge myself with this modification rather than buy an Elite controller and simply add color mods to it or whatever.I bought the new Stellar Shift style Xbox controller (I'm a huge sucker for purple...💜) and also purchased this Chameleon Purple Blue back button kit to upgrade my purchase out of the box. Needless to say, the Stellar Shift's frontplate + Chameleon Purple Blue backplate go very well together! It's not perfectly matched in terms of color saturation, but honestly, it looks amazing. Shiny all around. Amazing.Installation was tedious - HOWEVER, I understand why it needs to be that way. No points off for hands on struggles. My suggestion: Go to YouTube and look at ExtremeRate's tutorial on installing the back buttons. Watch it all the way through before you start the install. When you begin soldering, be careful around the plastic housing & triggers/bumpers. I will admit I gave one of my triggers a battle scar. (It adds character...) Also, be sure to do two things before you close the controller up: 1. Check for cold solder joints, or loose connections between the board and solder test points. 2. Use the LED tester board JUST before you screw it all together again! I tested once with flying colors before removing the cover on the sticky side of one of the orange circuits, and did not check again. I accidentally ripped up one of my test points (TP41) and had no connection for the B button to record into the back buttons. After I took it apart again, I tested with the LED board a second time and caught the error. Learn from my mistakes and check the joints before reassembly! Lightly tug the orange circuit away from the controller after you solder each joint and see if it moves.Once I figured it all out, the mod worked great! I will keep this review up to date if anything goes sour soon. But for now, I am happy with my new purple as hell controller.

Love this kit!Turn your original SX or SS controller into a pro controller!Does require soldering, but with a good needle nose tweezers and a super cheap soldering iron, I managed to do it no problem with absolutely zero solder skills or experience!Hardest part was desoldering and resoldering the unleaded solder on the rumble motors but with a better soldering iron, ie. one I could control the temp on, this would have been much easier, and is not the kits fault, as this is the controller solder I'm referring to.The soldering required for the kit parts was very easy, and foolproof with the included test board!Also the YouTube install video was so good, I watched it a couple of times while waiting for the kit to arrive, but when I was doing the install, I didn't even need to watch it as the kit is so intuitively designed that the install is super easy and obvious.The only possible con I'd say is, if you are used to pro controllers you might find the button placement a little off. If you prefer 2 fingers each side, the placement is not optimal in my opinion, but this is because the buttons are built in to the controller, and not on the outside, so they have to account for the motors inside the controller, so position is the trade off. However, I actually prefer the placement on this kit, as I can use 1 finger for both buttons on each side. I find this a much easier way to play as more fingers creates more potential for confusion under pressure.Very impressed!Highly recommended!
