  • Excellent versatility for carrying a spare tire in your truck bed
  • Holds the spare tire vertically and tight against the truck bed's sidewall to keep the remaining valuable floor space open
  • Universal design fits nearly all truck beds and spare tire sizes
  • Includes a sleek black powder coat finish to protect from the elements and locking holes to secure the tire with a cable lock (lock sold separately)
  • Not for installation on aluminum truck beds

The Extreme Max In-Bed Spare Tire Mount provides excellent versatility when it comes to carrying your spare in the bed of your pickup truck while eliminating the bouncing and rolling experienced when carrying a loose spare. The universal design mounts nearly anywhere in your truck's bed and adjusts its height to match both the bed's sidewall and the tire size. While mounted the tire sits vertically against the sidewall, keeping much of the floor open and ready to take on more cargo. After its initial installation, no tools are required while storing or removing your tire from the mount as its unique winged wheel plate provides all the leverage needed to unscrew the lug bolt. The mount features a sleek black powder coat finish to protect it from the elements and locking holes to secure the tire with a cable lock if desired (lock sold separately). Note: Do not install the carrier in aluminum truck beds.

This was very well made and easy to assemble. Unfortunately, nothing in the description tells you that it cannot be used between the wheel hub and the tailgate in a short bed pickup. If I have to choose between using my toolbox or a spare tire mount, I will pick the toolbox every time.

As others have noted, the top bolt is too short. This is an obvious problem that should be corrected by the manufacturer. A quick fix is to turn the U shaped mounting channel around so the U points away from the truck bed rail. The bolt will then fit.The "push on external retaining ring", which holds the winged plate up against the tire mounting bolt is too big to lock in place. The result is that the winged plate, which is used to loosen and tighten the tire bolt, has to be held in place to engage the nut on the carriage bolt head. Not a big deal, but could be easily corrected.Installation took about half an hour. The pieces are sturdy and the bracket held the tire in place during a brief test drive.A couple of easy tweaks and this would get a 5 star rating.

The frame of this is great, but if you need a longer carriage bolt, good luck. Because the bolt that comes with it and the threads in the frame are metric. No hardware store in the U.S.A. stocks metric carriage bolts. Had to drill out the threads to modify it. Poor choice in manufacturing.

I have a 1978 Ford F250 project truck. I had to add a rear gas tank so I needed to find a place to put a spare. A bed mount was really the only option so I ordered this hoping I could make it work. The installation should be relatively straightforward but I wanted to mount this in the rear part of the bed and I am running large tires so getting the location right was important or the tailgate might not close. After some mocking up and lots of measuring, I chose a location and started drilling. It turns out, I got the placement right so the tailgate closed with an inch to spare. This is a high quality product. My only observation is that the stud that is used to secure the spare to the mount was too short for my purposes. It is also metric so finding a longer alternatively locally was not possible. I ordered a longer stud from Amazon and eventually got everything properly secured. I suspect it would work fine for other applications with smaller tires but it was easy to adapt to work for my purposes.

Ignore the reviews that say you need a longer bolt for the upper hole in the bed rail. They're obviously not smart enough to turn the bracket around so it sits flat against the sheet metal, not so that the channel portion is towards the bed rail creating a 1in gap. I mounted mine the correct way and had more than enough thread on the bolt. The only mod I did was change the bottom bolt that goes through the bed floor to a bolt and nut rather than relying on the supplied "self tapping" bolt to hold onto sheetmetal.

The spare tire support works fantastic! I had ordered it for a friend and he is very pleased. He no longer has to keep moving his spare tire around in his truck bed or worry about having to remove it when hauling loads of stuff and forgetting to put the tire back in the truck. It was a very easy install and it only took about 30 minutes. Made of pretty strong material and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

This mount is sufficiently sturdy to hold an 8 lug tire on my 89 GMC C2500, but there were two issues with the parts provided. First, the provided 30 mm carriage bolt that is supposed to attach the tire mounting post to the side of the top bed rail is too short. You'll need at least a 2" carriage bolt. Make sure you drill into the center of the bed rail, or you may not have enough space to tighten the nut on the carriage bolt. Second, the provided retaining clip that is supposed to secure the handle onto the long carriage bolt was too large, and did not work. You'll probably need to dig thought your jar of nuts and bolts or make a trip to the hardware store to make this mount work. Tip for larger wheels: If your wheel center opening is too large for the provided retainer plate, put the bolt through one of the lug holes. Check this before you start drilling holes, because using a lug hole to secure your spare will offset the mounting location of the post.
