If you travel on foot with a small kit then this is for you. It is very light weight and does the job perfectly. I used as a phtotography tripod too.

I'm a gigging drummer and earn money doing this . I play everything from pop, country, to groove metal.I was looking for flat base hardware to go with my full size flat based hihat. I use tripod stands for heavier gigs especially in rock gigs where they like a heavy-duty look. But I have other friends who are serious pros playing on late night who are starting to use flat base hardware including one guy who collects 1960s Ludwig stands. So I've been starting to use some flat base hardware too, especially for smaller stages, rehearsals etc. My road bag for my heavy-duty stands literally takes 2 men to move. So I'm going towards lighter hardware.I bought this stand by accident thinking it was full size. It is not. The diameter of the base is about 60% the size of full-size stands. The tubes are very narrow. And the post for the cymbal seems a little chincy.But I'm here to tell you this stand can take a beating. On rock gigs. Just be prepared to have other players give you funny looks. At first. These stands also reach full height like a full-sized stand.Based upon other reviews I would not use the ultra lightweight hihat stand. People say it wobbles too much. If you want a great lightweight setup get1. Full-size flat base hihat2. As many of these ultra lightweight stands as you need. You'll be set for small stages and locations you have to haul gear up stairs. Or busking. These stands can take abuse. Just treat them with respect and don't over tighten.Pro tip: you can use full-size plastic cymbal base and wingnut on these. It helps with cymbal movement and quick set-up/ teardown.Good luck and stay safe.

Most drum kit hardware is far heavier than it needs to be, and I’m too old to be lugging it around. The DW lightweight, and ultra lightstands are perfect for me. I use the light for ride cymbals, and ultra light for crash/splash.

Extremely light compared to the old school single braces mini boom it replaced. Seems well built like most DW products and IMHO is good for thin crash cymbals no larger than 17”. Gets a little wobbly after that probably due to the short leg length. If you want to travel light with small cymbals, this stand is for you. Hard rock and harder? I would pass.

I have a 20" ride and a 16" crash both mounted to this one stand (with a dogbone) and yet it remains sturdy. This stand with both cymbals attached is lighter than my old Ludwig heavy duty stand alone. I was so scared to play out with them, afraid they would tip over, but they haven't budged.

This is a great stand for small and large gigs. It's very light and sturdy. If you're a hard-banging rocker, get something else. For the rest of us, this stand works great and won't break your back by adding pounds to your gig bag.

Very good cymbal stand. Might not be the best if you're playing metal and absolutely laying into your cymbals, but for smaller gigs, or lighter hitters, this is primo. I play jazz and simply don't need hard-core cymbal stands. This fits the bill. The feet lay flat so it's easy to slide under toms/bass drum which makes placement as either a crash or ride stand very easy. The light weight surprised me at first, but it's just what I was looking for.

I purchased 3 of these plus the matching hi hat stand and carrying case. I passed on the snare stand because it didn't look sturdy enough for a heavy 6.5" Black Beauty snare, opting for a single braced Tama stand that weighs a bit more. My whole hardware case, fully loaded plus floor tom legs and bass drum tom mount, weighs about 30-35 pounds, down from approximately 80 pounds. Save your energy for playing drums not moving them. Has made gigging so much more fun.

First of all, DW makes some of the best cymbal stands on the market and this stand (DW6710UL) is a quality item that is very well built. What you need to be aware of, is that there are two models of this stand. There is the 6710 and the 6710UL (Ultra-Light). The 6710 is a great stand all over and weighs 5 lbs. The Ultralight weighs 2.5 lbs. However, the ultralights base is 2” shorter at each leg. This is the negative part of this. DW blew it here. They should have left the length of the legs the same length. The ultralight stand is sturdy, but with such short legs, it cannot hold up as a ride or crash stand. Add the factor that you may be playing on a carpet adds to the instability. If 2.5 lbs is the key for you, then the ultralight is worth every penny. If stability is the key, I would buy the regular stand. The difference in price in minimal.
