Got these to replace the license plate lights on a 4th generation Chevy pickup. The old ones were OK, but the lens had clouded over and were dim. These new lights look identical to the old, albeit being slightly lighter in weight. Don't know if that reflects the lack of a socket or lighter-weight materials. I was worried that the LED lights would be incompatible with the rest of the lights on the truck, but after installation everything seems to work correctly. I assume the chip in the LED lights somehow mimics the standard bulbs. The lights look correct to the original, but are much brighter. In terms of appearance and functionality, these are a minimum of being 4 star lights. The problem comes in with how horribly they fit. Like the original lights, the new ones have 4 tabs/posts on either side designed to fit into the holes/slots in the bumper. There are 2 on the end, a space, and 2 at the base of the lights. In order to get the lights inserted, you have to maneuver them around (wiggle them) to get the 1st set of posts to go in. That is not too bad, but when you try to get the 2nd set of posts at the base of the lights to line up and go in, they are too large, and the lights will not sit flush against the bumper. No matter how much you try to adjust/wiggle, the posts are just too large and will not go into the slots in the bumper. FYI, my truck is in almost pristine condition, and the holes in the bumper are original with no issues/rust. I had to cut/shave/file the posts on the base of the lights in order to make them fit. What should have been a 5-10 minute job, took close to an hour and a half! In addition, the included retainer clips don't have enough tension, and the lights were quite loose after installation. BTW, adjusting the posts had nothing to do with them being loose. Even if the posts had fit correctly, the lights still would have been loose as the clips did not hold the lights closely enough to the bumper. I ended up reusing the old, grungy, rusted, retainer clips and the lights are held on perfectly. So to recap - the lights are bright and look stock. However, getting them to fit into the hole/slots takes time and effort to modify. If you don't have DIY skills, these lights would not be a good option.
