Although I already have a multimeter, I have been wanting one that had a clamp for amperage readings at my breaker box. The ones available at the big box supply stores are expensive and probably more for commercial use. This one was a very attractive price point for having that ability along with several others. Besides the amperage reading, I have also used the NCV, resistance and temperature gauge. I’m not exactly sure where the temp sensor is on this unit but holding it up to the A/C vent gives a good reading of the temperature being pushed out of the vent so you’ll know when you call the repairman for service. And for general use, the temp reading different from the thermostat by 1-2 degrees. That’s close enough for me.

Handy tool to have, I can tell you that much. Not one I would have thought I would need, but it is useful to have and when you need it, you will be glad you have it.

So I have a few meters already with this being my 2nd clamping meter. My first one is used in the garage, mainly on vehicles. In recent years, I've started creating a 2nd collection of tools inside where I have an electronic test bench so I don't have to run tools back and forth from garage to back room and wonder where I left something. I do have a benchtop digital multimeter inside but needed something handheld for AC work around the house. This item fits the bill nicely. Reasonable price, seems to work just fine the few times I've used it. Carrying case is a nice touch (wonder how long before I lose it). For any serious work, like my profession, I would likely opt for something a bit more robust. But for your average homeowner or garage mechanic, this should do just fine.

It seems to be decently accurate, checking with things like Emporia's energy monitors in the breaker panel along with testing with a small-scale solar setup. If you plan on building electrical things with batteries and whatnot, this will be an invaluable tool for you, as it works for multi-meter and clamp verification of voltage.

I've used multimeters for years, from when I was a child and burned one by not changing the setting from resistance when measuring voltage :-). This meter is unlike any I've used, and convenient: with the clamp and non-contact detection, I can make measurements without touching wires, but the package also includes wires for traditional measurements (as well as a good-fitting carry case, the two needed AAA batteries. and user guide. This meter measures everything I need (AC and DC voltage and current, resistance) and many things I don't currently need (capacitance, temperature, frequence, diode, conductivity). The controls are intuitive and high-contrast and the display clear, with status icons and large readout digits.

The flashlight has a bulb, but no control button, making it almost useless. The manual lacks clear information, and since there’s no on/off switch, you have to turn the dial each time, which is a bit annoying.

This digital multimeter does its job well. It is straightforward to use and reasonably priced.

I have other multimeters and like to have one handy wherever I am whether in the garage, kitchen, office, etc. This one is a little larger but has all the measurements I need such as voltage, current, capacitance, resistance, temperature and frequency. I especially like the non-contact voltage (NCV) detection that lets you verify if a circuit is live without touching it.
