I bought this version for 35 mm handlebars because the headlights come with the 31.8 mm mount. It is as good as the original one. Very firm and stable. Fits perfectly the chunkier 35 mm handlebar.

Although the old Cygolite Expilion itself is a good light, the replacement mount I received is lacking quality. Where as the old mount I could screw to tighten, the one I received has a bent bar latch system which is constantly coming loose on my bike as I can't tighten it further. Would not recommend to purchase.

Edit: the replacement also had a bent rod. I messaged cygolite and this is normal for the 25-35 mm diameter version. Review changed to 4 stars, the images don't make it clear that bent rod is normal.

It's good. At first I also thought it didn't fit a 35mm, but it does. This type of plastic is designed to bend, and it does bend to conform to a wider 35 mm bar. You need to remove the nut, press the two plastic halves together, and while applying some pressure to hold them in the closed position, reapply the nut. It does tighten well and easily holds in that position.

Well, it is so close to fitting. If the metal rod was 15mm longer it would work.I have a Whiskey No. 9 carbon bar, which I know is a 35mm. It also is too large for area of the bar where all the controls are.Kinda a bummer. It is hard to find products for 35mm bars these days. I’ll return it.

When I bought my light years ago I was still riding a 26 ,29ers didn’t exist, couldn’t have imagined a 35 mm bar but since I bought a new bike this small design change allowed me to use my existing light which still lights up the woods at night. It’s snug fit but works.
